The best outcome here is an actual victory (summary dismissal, bench trial, whatever) where russ has tens of thousands of fees to pay and has his wages garnished for the rest of his life to pay it. Not only is this morally correct but "it's been 15 years and this retard is still sending me 15% of his paycheck. Do you want to be this guy?" is the most potent legal deterrent I can think.

Certainly although there is a possibility that Null may have no choice on Settlement. Consider the situation where the Judge REALLY wants you to settle and will punish you for not settling. Even if you don't want to settle you still have to pretend that you were willing to do so. And the only real way to accomplish that is to offer something semi-reasonable.

This is one thing I definitely will not criticize Null for though. There may be hard decisions to be made on this.
