Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

As for going out into the sunlight, it's less a feeling of warmth on skin as it is feeling like the radiation is burning me.
For me that only happened last year at the height of summer when the heat index was like 105 and I was working outside. It was probably a combination of being soaked through with sweat and the high UV index because standing in the shade helped immensely. I also had wondered if something was going on with the sun because I had never felt like my skin was on fire before, but hearing we're at a solar maximum probably explains it.

At this point I only do gardening in the early morning or late afternoon because the sun is a son of a bitch.

These wildfires could've EASILY been prevented had Los Angeles' leadership practiced proper deforestation techniques and done controlled burns. Concentrating on filling reservoirs and making sure the hydrant system in place was functioning properly didn't seem like a high enough priority for them either. I know this is going to sound mean of me to say, but you literally get what you vote for. Ted Cruz got shit for something he literally had no control over, and Karen Bass skirts by very obvious criticism (gutting funding for the fire department by $70 mil, being on vacation when the entire thing started, concentrating on DEI for the department), because... what? She's a black woman and is apparently above such criticism?

MUH CLIMATE CRISIS. Shut the fuck up. Holy shit, I'm so sick of these retards.

We need more starlink satellites in higher orbits. Sure, it’ll bite us in the ass if things get colder for a minute, but I prefer to think in terms so short they’re practically immediate

Morning: Traffic/school Karens

Afternoon: Sun is high, work is miserable, and/or cold desides to mollywhop your face

Evening: Criminals & freaks come out

If you have the— sorry— privilege— become sunrise-pilled. Waking up with the sun and getting things done by 8:30 AM is a wonderful feeling. If you can avoid getting hit by a drunk driver, get up at 5 AM and enjoy God’s show. 🌈

Decades of shitty forestry practices in a landscape that's essentially evolved to be flammable by design will do that. Before humans arrived, the whole state would kind of just burn down on its own once every couple decades. That's just what the Californian desert ecosystem do.
The alternative (to proactive forest management) is
we will ultimately manage our public forests with wildfire.

I'll stop posting this quote when it stops being true.
Here's a map of Eaton courtesy of Watch Duty.

Containment percentages always lag the visible flame. I don't remember the full methodology
Containment percentage is measured by control structures(hand line, dozer line, etc) suitable for the expected flame height and fire conditions divided by the total fire perimeter. A contained section of line mean crews can walk away from it and without fire conditions changing drastically the fire will burn up to that control structure and stop. In heavy fuel loads, that level of confidence sometimes requires a black line (burned area either from the fire front or back fires) several hundred feet deep in front of the line before it can be considered contained. If it's considered too risky to back fire between the line and the fire front it's very hard to build a big enough line to contain high fuel load areas.
Is it possible that they are suppressing all this info with the justification that it encourages people to light more fires?
I think there are few things happening here:
  1. When the winds shifted to the early this week it forced the Palisades fire to burn back on itself. It's not out, but it's not showing up on FIRMS because there is no currently a cohesive fire front.
  2. After the drone strike on the super scooper and a bunch more drone operators violating TFRs, they told the news helos to get fucked. No filming active fires even while outside the TFRs.
  3. Cal Fire refuses to publish the maps I know they update 1-3 times a day where normies can find them. They want you to watch their 20-30 minute briefings where they stand in front of a 10' tall Ops map for 30 seconds. Every day. Unless you do that you have no idea what's contained and what's not. Part of the reason containment is growing so slowly is they have they huge internal fire perimeters counting against their line. On the other hand, half their containment is the beach.1737051912457.png
  4. California Office of Emergency Services has 2 FIRIS planes that only job in the world is to realtime-map fire perimeters. Anyone with access to the system can watch the planes draw polygons and tap into the visual spectrum feed from their phone. They could push this to Cal Fire's 3D incident map with very little work but just like complete lack of Public Information maps, Cal Fire wants you to watch their briefing every day.

Ngl, You guys sound fucking insane if you "think" you can visibly see or feel a "solar maximum".
I mean, it’s a maximum while this is going on: IMG_7464.jpeg

I’m not saying I myself have noticed anything. It’s not like I’ve suddenly started getting sunburned in recent years or anything.. but I’m not going to automatically assume everyone else is wrong and I’m as sensitive to sun as everyone else

Anyways, the only way for us to save the planet is to use 100% of China and the US’s gdp to drill megaholes to the magma layer and throw all our nukes in it

This is criminal. This is the kind of shit people invented hell for. This is where the people who did this deserve to go when they finally perish.
It's just climate change bro, the poor liberals are doing everything right.
:wow: Leonardo DiCaprio donated one million dollars to fire relief efforts. That will make a big difference.
With his net worth, it's a very small tax deduction on the income from his Titanic royalties.

These niggers haven't figured out how to sell the trees for operational cash, and burn off the debris, and they never will. FFS they haven't even banned planting new bomb trees, or taxing the possession of such as a major fire risk.

It's an amazing level of incompetence, and they'll get the help refused to the good poor folk of the Appalachian mountains.

I have to apologize to Antifa right now. During previous wildfires that were caused by or exacerbated by arson, many people (including me) blamed them for it. But Los Angeles is the only place that matters to the American government, which means they're actually arresting the arsonists this time, and every single one of them has been an illegal immigrant from Central or South America, without exception. My bad!

Illegals, doing the jobs Antifa refuses to.

Los Angeles Fire Department‘s operating budget, but those figures did not include $76 million set aside for salaries that increased the budget overall by at least $53 million.
Sorry if late. The linked article intended to "combat disinformation" says:

"the money that they keep saying is being held for LAFD’s raises are in this ‘separate account’ HASN’T even been transferred to the LAFD’s operating budget"

Amazing. They're right about literacy (sort of). We should get back to plain old fashion literacy before we continue pushing for this digital shit.

If you thought the shift right was big after hurricane Helene, everyone here will be in for a bad surprise next cycle. Keep an eye on Nevada and rural California. You're not getting those areas back.
Are you seriously suggesting they would rather vote for the people who caused their suffering over mean posts?

Lmao, keep em. Keep em for they were never useful.
