I occasionally see mention of all the planes and helicopters that are going to California to help with the fires.
Then I look at FlightRadar24 and I wonder where they are parked, or if the lack of aircraft is just more information being hidden.

People in this thread have lived for years, decades, of watching politicians and unelected bureaucrats fuck up the will of the people. Look at the Democratic party electing "hope and change" Obama, only for him to staff his admin with investment bank CEOs and bail out the fuckers who caused the great recession with taxpayer money. Look at people voting Biden because muh black lives, only for cops on his watch to continue ruthlessly beating the shit out of protestors. Look at Canada and the UK, where every election they vote to stop the brown flood, and every government opens the gates wider.
To see at all that and then think "Californians voted for this" is 60 IQ shit. I suspect that they voted for people who promised better fire management, lower cost of living, competent governance, etc, then rugpulled them once in office. This won't be the last major disaster of the decade and the next one might hit your home. We have to have some empathy and we have to save our anger for the fuckers in charge.

I'm a bit jilted about the heatmaps not being updated, though like a lot of users here have mentioned that it might be a coverup or it was just smoldering fire.
If it was the former, I feel sorry for the Californians who lived on the border of the evac zone. If the fire does continue to grow bigger, they wouldn't know the exact progression and location. The next thing they knew is that their neighbour 1 block away is experiencing full burning Rome, and I fear that they don't have enough time to evac.

I've been paying close attention to the evacuation zones and more are being taken out of the warning list, they've been repopulating the evac areas near Encino and Tarzana.
That said I'm still mildly disappointed with the containment percentage for the Palisades Fire not increasing at a decent pace, the Eaton Fire is already over 50% contained.

In 1992 hurricane Andrew scraped human habitation off a wide swath of south Florida, Floridians were like "WTF bro?" In fear of Florida man, local politicians did an in-depth investigation, and found the building standards in place were nearly useless against hurricanes.
That really pissed people off, as they had been paying the government to establish building standards for Floridians to be safe.
After some muttering about the availability of gator filled swamps, Florida rapidly established new regulations so thorough, that using the wrong pattern of nails on roof shingles can cause a builder to have to replace the entire roof at no cost.

I hate climate change shilling so much. God forbid the people actually causing problems are held accountable- it’s the climate! Making it too hot for the trees! Water management doesn’t exist. Forest management doesn’t exist, either- forests are enclosed systems, just like my computers! Why would leaving debris and eucalyptus trees in the most flammable part of the country cause a fire?

People are obsessed with CONSOOOOOMING and the stuff they buy is all future landfill. Yeah, it would be nice if everyone stopped doing $100 Dollar Tree hauls and invested in recycling, but believing this is possible is delusional. And it’s a lot easier to blame middle class white chicks who shop at Target every single day, than the billionaires who enable this reality and the countries bankrolling them.

This was true of homes built in the 70s and 80s during a slow down in Hurricane activity. Homes built in the 60s looked like cinder block cubes but did relatively well in the storm.
Politician Janet Reno's mother built a house that was so sturdy it only lost one shingle.
Subsequently, Dade county has some of the strictest building codes in the country.

Los Angeles already hosted the Olympics in the 80s so they don't need any new transportation infrastructure for them. Trump should refuse to grant their funding request as it's not related to the Games and the city is just trying to get the rest of the country to pay for their local transit system, which is not something that federal money should be spent on. The feds should only fund interstate transport like highways and airports; local taxes should pay for local transport.
