Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
While I see your point, there seems to be a growing appetite for PC gaming in general, people I know who used to be consolefags for the longest time getting themselves into this space. To play your PC library on the go, while also having the advantage of emulators, seems to make this console useless. I understand that emulators require set up, and for most normies they probably don't want to go through that effort, but there's some that may. That some is still a fairly large portion who would consider buying a Switch, and it is growing. I am probably looking at this biased since I have never really been into consoles myself, but I feel this industry is starting to crack with PC gaming being more appealing as the years roll on.
That's just an effect of the gaming market expanding. If anything, it means PlayStation is the one being threatened here as they would be the ones to normally scoop up the casual/hardcore crowd. There's also dlss to consider which only Nintendo has.

You download, like, one thing in Desktop Mode and follow some really simple instructions to make any ROMs/ISOs/what have you launchable from the Steam client.
That’s one thing more than a Nintendo Console requires. And this is why Steam Deck etc never really took off. And a lot of companies make the same mistake. People want things to just work.

The issue (to rational people) is that Nintendo sells consoles first, games second. The PS3 x 360 war was about console exclusives (and paid monthly sub to some). Nintendo literally announced nothing and already people are gonna preorder it.
So, about the new trailer, was that one of the DLC tracks or something completely new?

but I feel this industry is starting to crack with PC gaming being more appealing as the years roll on.
That’s not what is happening though. What you are getting is closer to a PC level experience on a portable, cheap device that you don’t have to mess with coupled with in most cases the ablity to move your stuff to PC without hassle if needed

Switch 2 looks just as uncomfortable as fuck to hold like the Switch.
I can't see any reason why I'd want a Switch 2 as I've only ever used Switch's portability for one game. It and PS4 pretty much made me swear off consoles, what with my bad timing buying them close to mid-way into their lifecycle when a year or 2 later a new revision's announced. Not to mention these things never hit their graphical/performance targets without some form of fakery or sacrificing specs. Do BOTH, dammit.

Also I think I've just grown out of Nintendo in general. One of the reasons I got a Switch was for Smash Ult, but sadly felt nothing when playing it despite all that fuckin' hype. (What a wild ride those years were. lol)
There's maybe 3 or 4 exclusives I vaguely remember enjoying and 2 other multiplats, one of which was ported to PC a couple years later. At least the Pro controllers nice. Luckily hasn't drifted on me yet in 6 years.

The Steam Deck and equivalents are not widely accessible, either being online only shopping or a tech store like Best Buy. The average person, say parent, likely buys their stuff from a store like Target, to which they wouldn't be included in the ecosystem.

Most of the population is heavily tech illiterate, including people who use tech, to which setting up emulators is a mass struggle. Hell, a good chunk of people can barely navigate an iPhone, literally the most idiot proof system there is. Expecting that the average Joe will figure out how to work the Steam Deck is probably a losing battle. Most people likely wouldn't even be able to figure out how to get to desktop mode to download the emulators. I have downloaded emulators and ROMs on my own, and it isn't exactly the easiest thing to do between downloading, configuring everything (I swear setting up controller inputs will just not work at times), and then hoping the game works.

If anything Switch 2 will get the normie market that PlayStation is failing along with children, which were Nintendo's main demographic anyway.

Between gamers, yes, but for the guy who plays nothing but COD/Fortnite/2K, no. There will always be a market for those who hate computers, which is something that seems to be growing given the iPad generation and their inability to work anything that isn't a button push.

Is it me or is this a really boring and low effort ad?
The switch 1 had all these actors and high production values. This is just a simple 3d animation that feels like they're announcing an accessory, not the pizzazz of a new console.

Wonder if they had to quickly slap it together because of the leaks.
I dont think this is a new console and Nintendo knows it. This isnt a Wii and Wii U situation. More like a 3DS and NEW 3DS. Since there a lot of differences between Wii and Wii U. I am surr Switch and Switch 2 will probably be the same but with better performance and fix some issues that the switch 1 had. Even the New 3Ds had its own exckusives. I still think Nintendo only has 7 home consoles. With the Switch still being its 7th. We will probably see the 8th by 2030.

Aside from Normies and Nintendo cucks, I'm failing to see how the average gamer is going to see any value in the Switch 2, when they could purchase a Steam Deck or any other handheld PC and be given a bigger catalog, more features, and the ability to emulate shit including this new console. @Nick Gars summed it up perfectly, the Switch was unique in 2017 but now there's just so much choice on the market, and I can get a PC in my hands for the same or less cost. I feel we've really stagnated in terms of innovation, so shit like this shouldn't be a surprise, but in like less than 6 months when this thing hits the market I (should) be able to play new Switch 2 games on any device I feel like. So what's the real value of this? Just feels like the Wii U Electric Boogaloo.
Because this one is from Nintendo and while Steam Deck/not-Nintendo are really cool, they aren't nearly as popular as their respective fans think they are.

Not everyone wants to pirate stuff (and I am not even sure most of the people posting about piracy are even doing that) and a lot of people do want to play another Mario game.

If it were more complex than that, I would call it a lie.

Reposting my thoughts from the other gay thread:

Pros:
+Everyone already calls it the Switch 2, smart move to just call it that instead of something retarded like "Switch U"

Cons:
-No hall-effect joysticks on the shitty fucking joycons and will break down after 5 seconds of use
-That back stand looks like it will easily break off, maybe even easier than the Switch 1 kickstand
-No total 100% backwards compatibility could mean more than just peripheral/gimmick games like Labo or Ring Fit
-Will probably cost as much if not more than other handheld gaming devices that offer more value for less price

Predictions:
-Replacement joycons will likely cost at least twice the price of the Switch 1 joycons
-Will likely have its own pro controller that costs twice as much as the Switch 1 pro controller
-Will likely be drowning in technical errors and crashes just like the Switch 1 did at launch
-Games will likely cost $70 or more
-Will likely have a shitty launch lineup, even if Metroid Prime 4 gets finished it is designed for the Switch 1. There will be no killer app like BOTW* or New Horizons. 1, 2 Switch and Arms were overpriced tech demos at best
-Nintendo will sell chink-made adapters for Switch 1 accessories so they can work on the Nintendo Switch 2™, and they will be overpriced
-No themes and even if there are they will be wildly overpriced
-New exclusive Switch 2™ NSO subscription tiers, so you can pay an extra $9.99 a year to rent Nintendo's bootleg Dolphin emulator to play one new Gamecube ROM every 6 months (:optimistic:) or other pointless crap
-Switch 2™ exclusive eShop slop
-Less first-party titles and more second-to-third-to-indie slop and definitely less physical titles
-Console will be scalped and resold for thousands
-It will sell less than the Switch 1 overall, especially since there's no scamdemic economic void to fill this time, but it won't be as disastrous as the Wii U

Remember: if you pre-order anything, especially game consoles, you are too retarded to live :smug:

*BOTW was also on Wii U but given the catastrophic failure of that console and the fact that the newer and more appealing Switch console was on its way, most people who wanted BOTW probably got the Switch to play it

Fuck are you on about? The Deck's been selling like hotcakes.
It’s sold less than the vita/wiiu so far.

Valves most recent figure was less than 10 million.

Great for an enthusiast device, but it’s not mass market. Valve is definitely happy with it though, as the ROI was likely much better than the Valve Index.

There's also dlss to consider which only Nintendo has.
Sony has PSSR which is comparable to DLSS and next gen everyone will either have FSR4, DLSS, or XeSS which will be comparable in performance. DLSS might have been a selling point a few years ago but everyone has some kind of ML-accelerated upscaling tech nowadays.
