Literally all he has to do is say "Yea maybe we could have done more" and that's that. But Linus has become incredibly merchantile - he was always up to buy and profit driven on every video, but its gone from "We're gonna do 90% profit and 10% cool/fun/relevent/useful" to just 100% profit driven, won't even take a single video out of rotation or a bonus in on anything topical or relevant if there's not a payday attached to it.

And I don't even think its an explicit decision or deliberate, he's clearly pretty checked out of LTT, and is just signing off on the things that make line go up. Whether he realizes it or not, he's starting to mentally ascend into 1%'r territory, where potentially significant product scams, merchant fuckery and all other sorts of things people want to hear about and talk about aren't even on his radar - Who cares about a few affiliate comms being sniped, Nvidia is paying us six or seven figures for product placements in build videos. He'll just make up the difference in volume on those comms anyway. Who cares about the smaller creators, he doesn't acknowledge them or engage with the rest of the tech reviewer space anymore. And his care for the customer is marginal - their eyes are the product, and they'll keep watching whether or not Honey lies to them about potential coupons or deals. If they really wanted to make a good financial choice, they'd buy his merch, with no discounts, its worth every penny - Trust Me, Bro. His mental position has left these lower concerns entirely, its about overall margin, major projects, investments, and commercial actions, and major lifestyle activities that mandate wealth to even be aware of as options.

Very few people who get wealthy avoid this trap, and pretty much all of them do so by just not really engaging in lifestyle creep. Many don't even want to avoid the trap - If your wealth doesn't come from something that's supposed to be a consumer service, you don't even have a moral dilemma.

I don't normally watch Linus videos lately but it was relevant to some of my hobbies with hardware and it's a really neat result. The box they are built in is <$700USD barebones w/ the i9 which is really good considering the network hardware built in (dedicated 10gbit NIC cards are expensive on their own).

But the fat sidekick manages to be incompetent throughout, if this is the best staff he has these days it's pretty pathetic.
