Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

I think Eren turning into a titan should have had more consequences like how Guts uses his power instead of Titan powers being a superpower or generic shonen powerup, like Eren should have had more conflict with his own team for using the powers, idk. I liked Annie and her female titan arc, it just could have had a lot more to it. The story ramped up too fast to care about the characters she killed. The girl important to Levi for example, gets her own sad theme in the anime that everyone remembers but no one remembers her much lmao.

So Sakamoto Days is Spy x Family if Loyd fucked Yor in the first volume?

What's made worse with the "no one is safe" bullshit is how they always have little to no genuine stakes.
It's never really that true. The only characters in real danger are side characters that can die when the author wants to insert edge, main characters that survive their introduction are safe until something big happens.

Taika's Reasoning Ch. 1 just came out and its hilarious how accurate this depiction of a pitmommy is. I can't tell if Paru is trying to defend pitbulls or she is trying to parody a stereotypical pitmommy. (Warning, gorey)
This is one thing, but then this is literally what the father told her scenes earlier when she was talking about getting students expelled for bullying her:

Holy shit I'm wheezing.

Can Western licensing companies just not do soylennial crap like this?

"Ruined Childhood"? Ha ha, eat shit.

AnimEigo, there's a company that had a reputation (deserved or not) for treating the shows it licensed with respect, now they're a company that does what every other outfit like Discotek does and puts commentary tracks from e-celebs on their BluRay releases of older titles. That shit is like if Criterion was putting commentary tracks on classic film BluRays from people like Your Movie Sucks and CinemaSins.

I mean, I soldiered on and bought the GC BluRay and never listened to that particular track, I just wish companies like this would drop the lame-o meme pandering and e-celeb stuff so I would feel a lot better about buying the occasional BluRay release of a title I really want a physical copy of.

The only animu kickstarter I ever supported was one for dubbing Emma with proper British-English delivery. Shekels well spent, as it was a beautiful little Anglo-Saxon romance.

Berserk and Hajime no Ippo be holdin out on me

I'm fine waiting on Berserk since it's pretty much in the end game and the anticipation is a slow burn. But Ippo constantly leaves on good cliff hangers and drives me insane we got Mashiba winning the world champ spot and I want it to motivate Ippo into getting back in the ring.
Edit: I'm looking forward to Sakamoto Days. I should probably read it but the first episode was nice. It'll scratch that itch I've wanted since Hells Paradise was green lit for next year rather than this year. (bummer)
Rewatched yuyu hakusho too. God i love the dark tournament arc

I never knew Emma got a British English dub. I always feel like British-English voice actors do a better job dubbing than whoever we have in the States. Is the anime any good or is it better just to stick to the manga?

Gundam SEED is a fucking ride. Kira, our protagonist, just smashed and slammed a bpd bitch and proceeded to manhandle her fiance. I have heard shit about SEED for years. I am not disappointed. This is fucking kek. I'm laughing my ass off. Mind you the cucking of the fiance happened while a village was getting torched. The writers were on crack.

Rewatched Ghost in the Shell Innocence since I haven't seen it in years and wanted to go on a big GitS binge anyway. Better than I remembered but more in line with SAC than the first movie. Might as well continue with the series today.

SNEED is like if the first Gundam was a soap opera instead of a good anime, it's retarded but very entertaining.

SEED will always stand out in my mind as like a 12 year old because it was the first time I'd seen an anime girl in her underwear. It was a life changing experience and I will always have Flay to thank for that

Itagaki Paru
This woman is either a complete degenerate fuck or complete genius. Not only was there the corpse fucking manga but now theres an animal fucking manga with commentary about the Great Replacement. Will this get treated like Drama Queen or will this get a pass? Place your bets.

NVM Beat me to it

Flay is a crazy hoe indeed. I can see how that changed your life lmao.

It's literally a retelling of MSG, but funnier.

The new Spy Family chapter really gave a big bombshell, Donovan has the same ability as Anya, at least that's what it looks like, it's really great that stuff is finally happening, it felt like the series kind of stagnated for awhile.

As for Drama Queen as I have been reading that, what even is going on anymore

That's the best part of the series frankly
People say Dandadan is very Chainsaw Man-like, but honestly Drama Queen feels like a better match to me. Messier artwork and plotline, while Dan feels a bit too... clean.

I agree, things are really getting interesting and complex in exactly the ways I wanted them to. I wouldn't say the series "stagnated" at all, but the Godlike initial premise of the manga DID become "routine". And a show like Spy x Family simply cannot be "routine" and still succeed. Endo needed to shake things up, and this does it, along with various other revelations from the past few chapters.

The anime was great imo, if you like slow burn classical Romance stories, which I do. It's two seasons long so you get extra time for character development. And as previously stated they try to go for realism in the vocal performances, so in season two you get to hear all sorts of adorable maids with British and German English accents. It's a great period piece of Victorian England, a beautiful time before Anglos and Saxons were set against each other in two meaningless Banker wars. It doesn't matter that it's an anime, the original manga was award-winning for historical authenticity, and the anime tries it's best to replicate that. The German maid is so damn hot.
