This side of Richard actually deserves more attention, because Richard is actually a fairly harsh critic of quality things that many other people like, while getting publicly angry when people don't like the most contemptible slop "content" imaginable. I think people pay attention when says that he likes garbage, but the way he's constantly saying things like "Mad Max wasn't good until Fury Road came out," or "Batman the Animated Series was bad and boring" seems more low key but is just as obnoxious. In this case, he's basically saying, "I don't really like the Sopranos, just some parts of it, I wish it was a worse series, because then I would like it more."

What I'm getting at is that Richard is a moron with unbelievably bad taste to the point he seems to hit the wrong note every time. If you believe him (and it's just as bad if he's lying for effect) he preferred the recent The Crow remake to the original, which seems like legit mental illness to me. Obviously, Richard doesn't belong anywhere near entertainment, including creating comics. The fact that Richard became as big an alt figure in comics as he did actually just shows how unhealthy comics are as a business. He's not some unrecognized genius, he's a moronic philistine with rage issues. My assumption is that any good comics that got created under Richard's label (if any) were actually created mostly by other people.

Ive only ever seen reviews of his books and they were mostly negative, so i suppose writing isn't his strong suit. That being said the man does have SOME good ideas, though that's mostly because he gets so many. Honestly think the guy coulda been an editor or something if he wasn't so lazy and actually produced a larger volume of work. I think that's partly the reason he hates crowd funding. He cant hold himself accountable, probably also why he joined the army, he may need someone telling him what to do and how to do it in order to produce anything worth while

So, the stuff about Batman the Animated Series he said in one of his Caped Crusader the Animated Series videos and the stuff about how bad the Mad Max series was until Fury Road was in one of his Furiosa videos. The Mad Max one might be easy to find because he reiterated it in a recent video with Furiosa, so I'll look for that. I'm not sure how many Caped Crusader videos he made though. I need to check.

I do remember back around 2020 or so, Meyer saying that BatmanTAS wasn't as good as it's been made to be these past decades. Probably because the series has a lot of introspective moments... you know, part of that beloved Art&Culture he likes to capitalize. That and the fact that the series has a deliberately ambiguous 40-50s feel to it, which may frustrate YBZ's wittow head because it seems beyond his imaginative faculties to visualize the action taking place under circumstances outside his life experience. As for the early MadMax films it's obvious he couldn't stand that they used much more of those non-American accents.

Richard Meyer seems very proud of his time in the armed forces, but I think he probably detested it ten minutes after he signed in. He has stated he was shocked at how retarded his mates in the corp could be (though this might be his powerful Dunning/Kruger syndrome kicking in).. Also imagine such an individualistic guy with an inflated sense of superiority having to do everything he was told to and not being allowed to say jackshit about it.

As someone who owns a rather extensive statue/ scales collection (collecting since 2010), I'm really baffled by him spending so much on merchandise from franchises he repeatedly says he doesn't particularly care for or like.

These things aren't cheap and take up a not insignificant amount of space. If he was buying Batman or GI Joe stuff I wouldn't think anything of it, but he doesn't know a thing about Warhammer and doesn't like Transformers. I can't imagine dropping that kind of cash or committing that amount of space if it's not a character I really like from a series I'm already very invested in.

Is he trying to emulate Gary/ Az's stream backgrounds but with "more manly" stuff? Now that I think about it Drinker's old stream set up had Resident Evil scales on full display.

Or is his slop brainrot evolving a consoomer tumor, making him think buying expensive geek chic will increase his, now non-existent, "nerd cred"?

If he's building some shelves of figs he's not going to use it for streaming background purposes that's for sure. I don't even know when was the last time he showed in face on camera. He's not going to setup a wall just for streaming when most he does is rant into a mic while driving or firing up obs to stream some websites.

Even when Zachary would stream (I think his final appearance was as a guest with TUG and/or YF around 2020) he would do the cheap streamyard no camera avatar shit. People don't review comics anymore for the same reason that there isn't a massive amount of Youtubers talking about horse and buggies.
Even if this issue is fantastic, I'm not buying any modern comics, because the amount that manage to go for more than like 3 issues without shitting themselves is somewhere in the ball park of zero.
