Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'll wait until the Direct before I judge it.

However, I do have a Steam Deck that satisfies most of my portable gaming needs. Even if the QA experience hasn't been what I'd like with it.

Xbox already did fade away into irrelevance and PlayStation is right behind them, they only got one more console generation left in them.
Microsoft is definitely on track to have the Xbox experience absorbed into Windows complete with handheld Windows PCs and a Windows box that connects to your TV, but they haven’t pulled the trigger yet. And Playstation still has a large (albeit shrinking) horde of true believers who will buy anything they make. Case in point, PS5 has sold way more than it had any right to.

I really hate the WiiU argument, cause it wasn't just the damn name. I guess the PlayStation 2,3,4 and 5 were such a miss because people people thought it's the same as the OG Playstation..
There's the angle of Switch 2 looking very similar to the original, but I don't think it'll be that big of a concern in the long run.

To be more on point here's what I want to know about the successor
- Is OLED standard or at least available
- HDR support
- Hall effect sticks
- Difficulty of replacing the battery (EU regulations about this shit are close to coming into effect)
- How's the backcompat handled? 1:1? PS4 Pro "turbo mode"? Specialized patches?

1. No
2. Dunno
3. Almost certainly not, despite what hopium dealers are saying.
4. Dunno, will probably require at least basic tech knowledge/self-confidence to open the screws and look at the system, possibly remove a board to get at it.
5. Sounds like it will automaticly improve framerates and loading, tbd if Nintendo patches more cars into Spiderman 2 or whatever..

Konami on suicide watch but for real this time, a switch 2 is going to cost them hundreds. Poor megacorp.

There's no use in speculating about this thing until the hands-on events start or the Direct comes out. All we know for sure right now is that it will probably have better specs, looks almost identical to the first console, and will have a new Mario Kart on it.

I especially don't understand why you'd so confidently deny the possibility of OLED support right out the gate. They barely have any selling points to push with this thing, why would they leave out something like OLED? It's not like the OLED Switch is selling so much so fast that it'd damage that console's sales.

The specs and components have leaked already.

There is a large LCD bezel in the reveal video

Yeah, they already leaked 5 years ago too.

Frankly, I'm not tempted to trust leaks given that not one of them mentioned a single detail about the new Mario Kart, when 24-person races and DK's redesign would've been immediate and interesting changes that would make people curious. It's also interesting that none of them ever mentioned the change in joy-con attachment, the new kickstand, or anything of the sort. Hell, the one "super confirmed" leak we got from that French guy a few pages back had some weird joycon grip thing in the back that was nowhere to be seen in the teaser trailer.

I truly think that being so confident about anything derived from leaks when we're this far out from learning the most basic details about the thing in official terms is dumb. There is every chance that what you stated to be 200% not happening will, in fact, happen.

The closest thing in regards to Mario Kart is that one of the leaks said a game with "9" in the title would be there at launch. Nothing about the increased number of players or whatever, like you said.

The new joycon lock system has been discussed in detail in this very thread months ago.

Thats were Xbox is going pretty much, they are going to make pretty much a more cost-effective PC that can likely dual boot the Xbox OS and Windows, allowing you to use shit like Steam, PlayStation will probably make a PS6 and it will still sell among normalfags (though it'll diminishing as long as GTA,NBA 2k,and CoD keep getting released for the PS5)

Both of those were mentioned... the magnetic joycons in particular were leaked months ago.
consequence of not watching threads like this, I guess.

I'm not changing my position, I still think you're jumping the gun and that it's better to wait for any official source before being extremely definitive about anything.

There's also the possibility that there isn't even a new Mario Kart game being made, it could have just been a tech demo they quickly shat out to demonstrate the hardware. Despite the new assets, the graphics quality wasn't that much better than Mario Kart 8 and it's trivial for them to just take the existing engine, add new higher res models and call it a day
