Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I really don't understand why they thought it would sell. What man or woman wants to see and hear women being brutally killed in a war game?
Because it's the logical outcome of their own moral principles and egalitarian beliefs.

Women are exactly the same as men,
Therefore any claim that "women just don't like" your product is sexist,
Therefore if your product is not consumed by women, it is because you are marginalizing and excluding them,
Therefore you have a moral responsibility to change your product until it appeals to them,
Therefore the first thing you must do is ensure women are represented just as much as men in your product's content and marketing.

If this results in men abandoning your product, then it's because men are bigots and crybabies who are just mad that their privilege is being taken away and they have to share their space with women.

If this doesn't result in women buying your product, well...oh well. Women can do as they like. You still have a moral obligation to do everything you can to appeal to them.

What? That's the only one I've played. The other ones are easier?
If I recall correctly, yes.

Pal defaulted to 20% extra health for the monsters, no auto aim, and I think less ink ribbons. There might have been other difficulty changes I forget, but Resident Evil 1 is a hodge podge of different versions with lots of changes. From censored cutscenes to weird stuff like files being on a black background or over an image of the file.

The only COD games i’ve bought are Black Ops 1, 2, 3, and cold war. Received WAW for free at a Lan Party. Other than that, i never played any other COD game.

Played the Beta of 6. While fun it seems to appeal to faggy zoomers shit.

Real life wars need to be handled respectfully or not at all.

I want the Civil War equivalent of this

It's funny because it's far less egregious than COD vanguard which people also shitted on but still bought. Honestly, the dying and injured women screams in BFV are some of the most horrifying shit I've ever heard in a game. It's such a weird thing. It's almost like some sort of comedy bit by the audio team. "ALRIGHT, we'll put women in the game. But we're gonna make the voice actors make the most horrifying sounds possible when they die. This is what you wanted remember? Hear their screaming in pain? "

You could legitimately do a study with BFV. See if men would rather heal an injured female player first or male player first. Then use it for arguing who's fit for combat roles in reality.
I actually liked Battlefield V because of the "women on the front lines" spin to WWII. Obviously, if you know who I am, you'd know that I love women from the 20th century. I wish they would've expanded on it from the cosmetics side. I do agree, the battle chatters and cries were a bit obtuse in execution. Cartoon like.

Other Resident Evil 1 versions had auto aim? Wtf...

I think Mass Effect should have made an Andromeda 2, and put the work into making something decent, but they won't, and now they're trying to nostalgia bait instead. Sad.

For added salt. Make it be Lincon's head in a jar.
Mecha-Zombie Stonewall Jackson.

Here's what I want to see. Selecting a female character gives you a smaller profile & hit box. But also
  • Your run speed is reduced by 30%
  • Sprint time reduced by 25%
  • Hit points reduced by 50%
  • Ammo carry capacity is reduced by 30%
  • Significantly increased aim sway/recoil/ADS time on all weapons
    • For larger weapons, like the BAR, Lee-Enfield, etc, they should basically be rendered useless
  • Mantle height reduced by 25%
Now let's do our study.

The original DOOM games aren't very good.

Ultimate DOOM suffers largely from bad level design, having a number of levels especially in E3 that boil down to large incomprehensible mazes that take far longer than they should which destroys the flow of the game. There's the shit flinging levels, mainly seen in E4, which amount to throwing bullshit at you for the sake of being bullshit with no rhyme or reason. There's also the bizarre level design choices made in some of the levels which make you scratch your head saying "I was supposed to do that?!" that tend to need a walkthrough to figure out in the first place.

Ultimate DOOM also suffers from a lot of repetitiveness and a lack of visual diversity (though I can't blame them too much given the technical limitations at the time).

DOOM II is a generally more well-rounded and enjoyable game, but still suffers from the same aforementioned issues albeit to a lesser extent with a slightly better map pool and more variety in enemies plus the Super Shotgun.

I have a lot of respect for the old DOOM games and what they did for PC gaming, but they're not the masterpieces people make them out to be.
Doom's basic mechanics and enemy designs are very good. It's got everything it really needs, in a way that precursors like Wolfenstein 3D didn't quite. But it's a common truism that the original official maps are kinda hit and miss, and some of the later expansions or fan maps make better use of the building blocks. I like to play through the first three episodes from time to time, but I never made it to the end of Doom 2 tbh.

otoh I feel that Doom '16 has aged very poorly. It might be ok for nostalgia if you grew up on it, but it's nothing special by modern standards.

Indie games are worse than AAA games generally speaking, and it's a toss up as to whether it will be a blue haired, half-shaved Wiccan lesbian, a thimble-headed homosexual, or a faceless corporate nigger making "the next big game"

Indie games suck, 99% of the time because all these indie devs are ripping off each other's content and hyper saturating the market with 500 clones of the same 3 genres of games.

There's phasmophobia, demonologist, Ectoplasm, and like 10 others, all the same basic premise, all of them buggy messes, all of them shit out because of how popular Phasmo was.

Same with AsymPVPs, they're ALL trying to copy DBD, like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, Deceit I and II, and they're all god awful ripoffs.

All of these are "indie" games, from small-ish studios and that's the thing, there's not really any such thing as a truly indie game (with some exceptions with 1 man projects that are either mediocre to pretty okay), all of these "indie studios" are still big teams of people who work closely with publishers or other corporate entities. They might not be the "AAA" corporate slopspreaders, but they're close enough.

Gaming is shit. Every game is unoriginal and boring. Developers don't make fun games anymore.

Doom 2016 was fun, but in retrospect, the modern FPS suffers from individual levels just not really being memorable. There are maps from Doom I & II that instantly made an impression, including E1M1, E3M1, Tricks & Traps, various boss levels, etc. With Doom 2016, I remember a couple events, but not really the maps. I think that is really the key to making people want to play more and more of a single-player game, you need the maps themselves to be engaging experience, not just a fun combat loop.

Prodeus is the best Doom game made in the last 10 years. If I made a top 10 of Boomer Shooters Prodeus would probably be second to Dusk. It has excellent level design and you can just easily have fun replaying them.

The definition of MMO has been slowly watered down over time. Let me make this clear, if the majority of your game takes place in personalized instances, IT IS NOT A FUCKING MMO. So many people have tried to posit every live-service game as an MMO and it drives me up a fucking wall. According to these mongs, Destiny, World of Tanks and War Thunder are all MMOs. Do they have big persistent worlds or any ither definitive traits of an MMO beyond progression tracking and marginal social lobbies? NOPE.

The only excuse you have in an MMO for separating your players from each other is if it's 2006 and you're Blizzard and you just have so many nerdlings signing up for WoW you absolutely HAVE to give them their own realms or they'll crash the server. Anything shy of that reason, you're a bitch developer and your game is not an MMO. I'm unironically less than 5 years from some zoomie zoom trying to convince me Call of Duty is an MMO because progression between matches is tracked.

Why wait?
Honestly, Call of Duty lowkey slaps as an MMO. Hear me out—it's got that persistent grind with XP, levels, and all the unlockables that keep you coming back. You get new guns, perks, and skins as you level up, just like any MMO character. And don’t even get me started on the multiplayer flex—you’re always hopping into lobbies with dozens of other players, and the whole game is basically a giant online arena.

It’s ALWAYS connected too, like, no solo mode here, you’re always vibing in the online space with your squad. Plus, clans? Leaderboards? Cosmetics? That’s all MMO stuff. The seasonal updates and events drip-feed you new content like an MMO, and don’t forget the in-game economy for skins and loot, which is basically like grinding for gear.

So yeah, Call of Duty is practically an MMO-lite, with all the core MMO feels—just with a lot more shooting and way fewer elves.

A Star Wars game where you play as Coruscant Security Force solving crimes would be pretty cool. Yeah, it's nothing flashy but it'd be a welcome break from Jedi and Rebel bullshit
I can picture it now, you're Nuffi Dindoo, a sassy, black lesbian with a sideshave from Coruscant. There's a disease sweeping through the city, but the Jedi Council is having a hard time containing it because somebody is killing the city's information system fact-checkers so they can spread disinformation. As you dive deeper into the case, you uncover a deep conspiracy involving Darth Naranja and a plot to overthrow democracy.

This game would be so badass if they would just make it.
