The biggest threat TikTok posed (and now RedNote, I guess) is its massive information campaigns that typically were for the benefit of China, Russia, and other countries interested in American social division. So, not really the data portion like some thought, but propaganda.

There are some amazing things about China and I love Chinese people, but the state of the country is sad. Chinese often wear coats inside during the winter because many places, including some apartments, don't have heating. Their standards in some places for public sanitation make places like LA and NYC look clean, complete with public defecation in some places.
