It's perpetually funny to me that the word 'anus' onscreen is too risque for them, especially given that tomatoanus is one of the few actual funny speedrun commentators left.

Are there any good technical runs on the schedule? I don't think I've actually watched any for the last dozen GDQs.

e: Wow that's a dogshit schedule save for the Metroid rando race and Mario & Luigi.

The only ones I care about are Linkus7s wind waker run (there's a new route) and ZFG1s OOT no logic randomizer. The latter should be relatively entertaining.

Windwaker run was fun and especially funny if you know about the insane zombie hover bullshit from the old route that had like a 10% success rate. The new tech 100% successrate solution of unplugging and replugging the gba cable twice to make the system just give up and reenable tingle is such an archetypal Nintendo bug that it's hilarious.

At some point a few years back there was a MGS5 run with some incentive attached to it. Some donator for that incentive had their donation message as something like "More MGS is always a good thing. I would really prefer it if you'd beat Quiet" and the reader audibly choked halfway through reading it. Probably the only time I've ever laughed at a donation message.

The only thing I thought was interesting was this 4 player synchronzied race series of the OG Mario where they were all overlayed onto one screen, if not just for the tech.

Virtually everything else has been garbage. So many fucking Pokemon "speed"runs. It's such a shitty game to speedrun. No tricks, no techniques, the commentary is always shit because there's nothing to talk about. The funniest thing about it was one idiot was already over time and lost to the Elite Four and they just mercy killed the slot.

Now who's the fucking faggot that scheduled Super Monkey Ball in the middle of the goddamned night? One of the few interesting things to watch and they shove it into dead hours.

The OOT randomizer was surprisingly enjoyable, I didn't hate the duo reading donations. I am sad he didn't have any custom music or sound effects, those are always super entertaining.

Werster used to be fun because he'd cuss and swear at bad luck. You know, back when the attendees were allowed to be fun.

/v/'s rankings for AGDQ 2025. Sent, the greasy prizemonger, was promoted and wont be handling the prize segments anymore. He got an SSS rank in his memory.

The early games actually have an absolutely insane amount of exploits and tech, so much so that everybody had to switch to glitchless or NMG or other arbitrary restrictions because any% is just corrupting your save and then using the item menu to rearrange RAM. It's pretty sad because there's so many genuinely fascinating exploits that go unused now. The original OOT.

Free my nigga Naegleria.

the tranny vocal CANT SING FOR SHIT
Yeah, I saw that name of the run on the /v/ power rankings and thought 'mite b cool.'

I was apprehensive the second they did the first close up of the vocalist and I saw lipstick and receding hairline. I mean, I've probably seen dozens of acts in college bars; band members wearing stupid get ups isn't exactly breaking new ground... but the second I heard him start on "All I Want" I winced.

The other three seemed pretty good. I don't know how far in advance they decided to string together a band out of random speedrunners in attendance from different states, how long they had to learn the songs, practice together, etc. It seems the asian guitarist is the one who did all the heavy lifting to make it happen. It's cool as a concept, and it definitely takes work to make shit like this happen. Shame they couldn't get a better person to sing, because it's something that should be as awesome as it sounds. Even the jaded /v/irgins seemed to enjoyed it overall, despite the shit front man, but I quit on it by the third level.

Just watched the Vod it was a good laugh. Only caught bits of the event as background during work, so just catching up on decent ones now. The Mario synchronised thing was cool

I'm finally watching Wind Wanker, I'm only 8 minutes in but it's already surprisingly good. Twinkus is good at explaining the run because it's basically his day job, and the route manages to skip pause buffering in the initial superswim by just getting really fucking good at mashing which is pretty cool.

ETA: Skyrim run feels like watching Penn & Teller explain a magic trick, where you could probably understand what's going on if you watch it five times in slow motion. Pretty good if that appeals to you. Every time there's a Skyrim speedrun I think it can't get any more broken and I'm always surprised. Bananas that the WR is down to 21 minutes and it's still the longest run in the TES series.

Sometimes I watch speedruns on there, favourites are Keizaron and Adef and some others. SpikeVegeta sounds like a fun guy, although I have not watched much from him. Love Corvimae's voice.

But yeah, Keizaron is pretty much the best guest in there in my opinion, most of the time.

Good times.

I watched the COD4 run and the runner was wearing a turtleneck, a chain over the turtleneck, an orange beanie, round rimless glasses and he had a mustache. I didn't think there could be a more punchable face than Bonesaw577 but speedrunners find a way. [Home - We're Finally Landing plays]
