Have not watched it, but as long as they're fun... one that I should mention is Mitchriz, who has provided very decent commentary every time I watched him, not only in his runs, but in other events too, like this one:

I did a quick scan of the thumbnails and apart from about 2 obvious troons, most of the runners look normal/average. I haven't followed the past few years of GDQ but for this year, would you say the prominence of troons and troon/BLM virtue signaling is more or less? I know in past years, they would have obnoxious full screen virtue signaling banners with #BlackLivesMatter and other hashtags begging for cash.

This will never happen but it would be ridiculously funny if GDQ read the room (post election) and followed the footsteps of tech and gaming companies and started removing DEI policies and positions.

If you sort by newest, new people are still commenting on the video. At least a few comments every single day. You have to sympathize with Chibi, this history will not be forgotten. TBH, I'm surprised the channel hasn't deleted it.

I know nothing about this band but I didn't even know the troon was a troon until I read your post. I just assumed he was a feminine presenting male like many musicians.

Summer Games Done Quick is happening again and this year it followed directly after ESA and it's such a stark difference. SGDQ is running Rollercoaster Tycoon and they're naming every rollercoaster Trans Rights and the chat is nothing but spamming Trans Rights. It's not news that GDQ sucks, I just put it on to have it on in the background, but I can't even do that anymore. What a disaster.

How the hell does a Crazy Taxi speedrun even work? It makes no sense as a concept, as the whole point of the game is to keep the timer going.

On the Dreamcast version, under Arcade Rules, I could last almost 2 hours. It was exhausting.

I've got several hours of computer work ahead of me today and traditionally looked forward to the marathons as mildly entertaining background noise for this sort of thing but holy shit it's unwatchably bad now.

Was there anything really good in ESA this year?

e: The clair obscur run is good fun; absolutely a game to play first before seeing any of the speedrun content though.
