I find it interesting that everyone has a different take on Nika. And of course Luffy doesn’t give a shit about how he’s even kind of connected to this bigger aspect of the world.

Also, nice to see Zoro and Nami accompanying Luffy to see Loki, if only because Luffy is a naive idiot and Zoro is the cynical asshole ready to wreck shit, the Vegeta to Luffy’s Son Goku.

As for the hooded duo, I’m still banking on there being some catch besides having it where Shanks was evil all along, or Oda is writing it to where Shanks is doing something similar to Naruto in terms of Itachi slaughtering his clan and only sparing Sasuke. Mainly because it’d fly in the face of everything we’ve seen Shanks do before, let alone doing things like giving Luffy his hat.

Also, the chick having power of the vectors like Medusa from Soul Eater was pretty damn sweet.

since it seems to be confirmed they are gods knights i think the dude is just shanks twin brother or something like that and shanks is similar to sanji in that he was considered the weak one and disowned or in shanks case put in a treasure chest to be sold off as a prize or whatever.

It'd make sense. And maybe it'd explain Shanks being that "certain pirate" along with why Shanks could leave Marineford to bury two bodies without anyone putting up a fuss.

Dense chapter, Usopp is already spinning bullshit about beating Oars. Also really feels like Oda is smashing the pedal. That he didn't even show Nami calling Luffy an absolute retard and that we had a panel of Zoro being suspicios and the next everything is already said shows he doesn't want yo waste a second. Nami also bails from amything dangerous and seeing Loki reeks of that.

Biggest thunk for me is offering Loki to be a celestial dragon. Have we ever seen a non human be that?

As for "Shanks" and Gunko, not much to say yet. mostly wondering if it will be a mugis vs those 2 or if Loki will also fight and for which side.

It’s just Mary Goeise law enforcement, but It’s still a ranking above the Marines. And given Garling is part of the Gorosei, and the hooded two showed up in the way the Gorosei showed up transformed on Egghead, it’s still the same aspect of “being above the law that’s bound to be destroyed in the endgame”.

I think it’s being set up as they’re the main villains of the arc. I have to think Gunko will get more of the focus since the hooded Shanks is being set up for Shanks’ backstory, and I have to wonder if Oda is going to have Luffy learn about that stuff or hold off on it so readers don’t figure out things too early (aka “before Luffy comes across those things”).

First you have to establish there IS a fake Shanks.

Having said that, that’s some crazy dedication if he did that. Reminds me of the ending of Death Note. Oda has been VERY careful in how he draws hooded Shanks. Even if we all know the point is to wait until Luffy sees him with the hooded cloak removed.

The thing about the "male gaze" is that it's much easier to identify than the opposite because men's tastes are a lot simpler than you'd think. You can point out characters that are popular with women like Solid Snake, Kiryu Kazuma, Leon Kennedy, or more relevantly Zoro and Sanji, but it's a bit more effort to explain to the masses because those attractions are more than skin deep. The male gaze is only a relevant talking point because it's a lot easier to get people riled up over men liking big breasts, but even then there's manga and anime that are a whole lot worse about this than One Piece. Just look at harem animes and the isekai genre as a whole. I hate how often this back-and-forth happens when it's the same argument from each side every time for no reason other than attention whoring, case in point: Grummz's tweet.
