Most people never reap the benefits in general. Though I'm sure the English were glad they colonized the US back in the day, in the years 1941-1945, as well as most of Europe.

Now it's fewer sites, and a lot of them want your real name, and people posting monetized ragebait slop.

I do miss specialized internet forums before they all went to social media groups and reddit and I do miss the not having ragebait AI slop, but overall it was pretty boring. I'd say it was better overall, but not by enough to go full Elon

Measuring who the "wealthiest" in the world is tricky.
Forbes reports known financial disclosures and stock holdings. This is a start, but it doesn't measure your dollars and cents in a bank account. Stock value wealth is "on-paper" because it fluctuates up or down with the stock market.
It's how you get headlines from journoscum saying "WHOOAAA This tech oligarch lost 30% of their wealth in a day!", where in reality the actual amount of money in their bank account, for example, hasn't moved much at all

The actual richest person on the Planet comes to two contenders:
Vladimir Putin has a real cash net worth of many hundreds of billions of dollars from his pillaging of the Russian Federation; and the Saudi Royal family, whose coffers are similarly large with many hundreds of billions of dollars.

Doesn't help that in some countries that if they tried to sell stock then the government will want some of that. Canada it's 50% now. Makes buying shares in the country pointless unless you're willing to leave eventually.

It’s pretty wild to watch Elon Musk turning into Michael Jackson at an accelerated rate. Michael became so rich and famous, he was able to surround himself with yes-men (and ferris wheels) (and giraffes) so that he never had to hear the word “no.” If anybody tried, they were banished. He didn’t have to hear, “It’s inappropriate for you to have children in your bed,” or “You need to see a reputable doctor for your health problems instead of this quack pumping you full of drugs,” or “We need to get you a good therapist so you can deal with your daddy issues.”

Elon is pretty much there, sans the slumber parties (that we know of) (and giraffes). Nobody can tell him what to do, and he’s terminally naive.

I think that depends on how many things Musk gets to hold over Trumps head. I'm sure Musks support didn't come free for Trump. It always has to be driven home over and over again: these people do believe in nothing except themselves. They are not united by a common cause because there is no common cause. This is a marriage of convenience. Just a few years ago, Musk supported Biden. All this left/right culture war nonsense isn't grounded in any reality but people eat it up. Read the politics thread on this very forum.

How long this alliance can hold depends on how long these two gigantic egos can coexist. If greed doesn't override all (and it very well might) I am sure these two have the full capability to destroy each other.

Autistic people really don't like being yelled at or brushed off. All Trump needs to do is tell him that he would really prefer if Elon would be quiet for him to start talking about how awesome AOC and transgenderism is
