Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

The easiest/best way to make gil is through Free Company subs, which require your own dummy FC and an FC house. It's something like 12M (I think) a month on average once you're set up, but it does require something like 20M or so for startup, unless you're crafting a ton of shit for sub parts in advance.
You're leaving out the fact that it's utter tedious work to even get the materials to begin crafting your subs and airships in the first place.

It's been, what, 2 years since I got talked into making a private FC by a friend and I'm STILL stuck halfway in the process of building my first airship because scrounging together the materials needed for every last step of the way is a tedious chore that makes me want to eat a bullet. And that's WITH other friends having occasionally donated mats of their own for the cause.

There's a reason why airship and sub projects were designed around being multi-man efforts.

I'm tempted to get into this game, not much of an MMO guy mostly due to a lack of money and time (mostly when I was much younger) and the only ones I've played were ESO (yeah I know) and Albion...and I guess GW2 briefly but I don't really count it. Is it worth it or is there some dumb shit happening currently that is repelling all but the most autistic weebs? And if so, is there Kiwi farms or similar guild or "Free Company" or whatever?

Unhelpful answer but it really depends on what you want from the game. It’s a story-focused game with a lot of reading. I personally really enjoyed the story (it’s not a flawless masterpiece like some scream about, obviously) up until the recent expansion. Some people do just buy story skips to do endgame content (of which there is some really well-crafted battle content) and enjoy the game that way. There’s side content you can get sucked into, like fashion, fishing, mahjong, housing, etc. If you’re a new player, you’ll have a lot of content to get your money’s worth.

I don’t believe there’s a Kiwi FC. I doubt many would want that additional breakdown in online privacy, and we’d all probably hate each other, but it would be pretty funny.

There’s a lot of weebs and general degenerates playing the game, yes.

There isn't one. We're all on different data centers and world servers. Also has stated there's the additional issues with giving people the ability to try and link characters to forum posters. And honestly, once the native troon population heard about it they'd do everything they could to destroy it. It's honestly better to coordinate via Cross World Link shells and the like rather than have a massive target like an FC.

There currently is dumb shit happening in the sense that the latest expansion has been a trashfire story-wise with the new writer's OC taking up a huge majority of the new storyline and the same OC's tranny VA called everyone racist for not liking the main vocal track.

To the game's credit though, the nature of it being story driven means you can, and are actively encouraged, to enjoy all the more well-received content in the order it was released unlike other MMOs that encourage rushing to endgame, and the 4th expansion pretty much ended the main story on a good note, so it's not like the whole thing has been ruined.

The story is what gets praised the most but a lot of it comes down to personal taste. Most people would agree even before the latest expansion there are plenty of highs and lows. There's a noticeable change in the lead writers between the base game and the first two expansions (everything included in the free trial) generally being more focused on worldbuilding and the history of the various regions, and the 3rd and 4th expansions (past the free trial up until this latest one) being more focused on characters and plot, and that's where most of the hardcore "best story evar!!" dicksucking comes from.

FFXIV is basically the 'presentation' MMO, it doesn't have much depth in team combat, builds or exploration, even the 'hardcore' endgame content just revolves around repetition and synchronization. But it does have consistently great visuals and music and is very easy to play. If you're more into the idea of MMOs as a world to hang out and do quests in rather than the hardcore minmaxing shit most MMOs actually turn into, you can ignore the larping catgirl trannies in player centres, and you don't mind sitting through cutscenes, I'd say the trial is worth a shot.

STILL stuck halfway in the process of building my first airship
Well your first issue is building an airship instead of submersibles, airships take considerably more effort to get to anything remotely profitable from them and also require considerably more ventures when you've got to that point to break even (And it isn't raw gil so you need to deal with the MB...)
is there Kiwi farms or similar guild or "Free Company" or whatever?
This thread is the free company. If we said half of the things in this thread ingame, we'd be banned.

There's an absolute fuckton of side content that you can and should do if you play the game. Don't be a MSQ andy, get your clown ass to the Bozjan Southern Front.

So they've actually re-recorded even more of Wuk's english VA, not just the SPEEN LISTUN TO ME scene:

The scene where she get's spat by an alpalca:

The "MY PEOPLE WILL LIVE TOGETHER IN HAPPINESS" moment:

Line was also altered, "live together in happiness" was changed to "live together in harmony"
I wonder if Wuk will go down in history as the character with the most re-recorded lines in the game. The dude sounded like Tommy Wiseau at times.

Patch notes are up. What the fuck is this emote supposed to be?

That's Jojo's Bizarre Adventure clearly.

Also Lateral-Core and Core-Lateral have been replaced with each other in Cloud of Darkness. Thank you SE for messing with literally everyone's muscle memory for the fight because of one german bitch on the official forums.
I'll also add to this:

All of those guides that have been circulating round and now have positioned themselves as the first result in the YouTube algorithm are now incorrect.
So not only do all of the people who've already done the fight have to rewrite their muscle memory, but now, everyone who's learning the fight for the first time and googles "Cloud of Darkness Chaotic" is gonna come across a guide that SE have now made outdated in a really stupid way, and you're gonna cause unnecessary confusion.

One other funny thing though.

They forgot to translate a line in the new role quests... If you talk to an NPC after finishing the role quest you get this:

This is embarrassing...

Most folks either just buy the mats, buy the components outright or use addons.

The role quest conclusion was neat. Was nice to fight for a smaller cause. Got a little hammy at the end but I got to beat the snot out of a communist so there's that. Nice little references to how Eorzea's city states are shady in their own rights. They explained where the treasures came from at least and the duty wasn't bad either.

I liked it. Was a nice little break. I actually do hope the folks from the role quests come back later the same way they included them in Shadowbringers.

no that was the british bitch, i'm talking about Lucretia Ryusagi making this thread.
I was saying it as a meme for someone going to the OF to whine about something because it's "too hard" or "not fair".

LMAO HOTFIX THIS NOW

Goddamn, even their QA is slipping. You never saw this in any of the prior expansions.
Brother, their QA is well beyond slipping at this point.
Any quality they had ended with EW. The moment they decided to put Kate in charge of anything and approved this subpar story script is the moment their QA quality tanked and died alongside Zenos.

Well if you dont want to pay, you can always start with the free trial which takes you up to Stormblood(2nd expansion) and there you have more than 100 hours of content, even more)

Theres alot of shit to do, if youre like me youll get distracted by some of the side content(Eureka, Bozja, Manderville Quests etc) so there are times i forget the MSQ even exists.

Theres always some dumb shit happening but its usually isolated so it wont affect your game. Do be mindful that theres a lot of trannies playing this game and since its an MMO with personal housing, emotes and highly customizable look, youll get the dreaded ERP/RP niggas. Dont worry they tend to stick to their shit corners unless youre a certain Race or you wonder in some populated areas that are hotspots.

We don't have an FC but this thread might as well be one. Lots of helpful advice and tips on how to go about things. I would dare say the kiwis here have been more helpful than the BK Crowns(derogatory term atleast by me, to the Mentors in-game that serve to """""help you and teach you"""""")

Personally i would recommend you giving it a try.

Yeah Kate is fucking dogshit. I don’t think I saw these kinds of gaffes with Koji but maybe they were there.

Isn’t this the third translation fuck up to happen in DT? I remember there was a scene where Gulool Ja was hacking into the computer and the text had a spelling/grammar issue. And another where the translation mixed up some location names. I understand translation goofs happen once in awhile especially with this game’s behemoth of a script but at this point it’s obvious the translators are genuinely incompetent.
