He's going the wrong way about it for sure, but I understand his motivation and empathize with him at least a little. Besides the yes-men and dicksuckers there's a whole bunch of people who viscerally hate him and wish death upon him (not even in minecraft, they seriously want that shit to actually happen) and he's trying to get validation in his "happy place" from his childhood which was video games (which I'm sure for many people reading this would be the same "happy place")
You need to take the blinders off man, I've seen good posts from you over the years, I know you're more rational than this post.
Its incredibly pathetic what he's done, and is telling for his character overall if he's willing to lie about petty things like being the best at video games, after being a father, owning multiple businesses... Has to be seen as the best in everything. Its even worse HOW he lied, like is so obvious to other gamers who've played the game in DOZENS of ways, and yet he thought he could just fool everyone. It shows what he thinks of himself and others. He could've prepped for an hour with his Chinese pilot beforehand and made it way more convincing but he's not even smart enough for that.
He's an exalted marketing hype man who buys companies then acts like all their works came from him directly. He makes grandiose fake promises that never go anywhere like autopilot, Hyperloop, underground railways with elevators, the Tesla truck (awful)... I'm not saying all his works and achievements aren't worth anything, Tesla is fine in other ways and Starlink has great utility, but he didn't invent or build any of those things.
He acts all "America first" Then insults them by saying Americans don't like to work hard and only foreign engineers through H1B get things done. I work in software and yes, the Pajeet flood is real but its always supplemental. They are cheap labor, their work sucks, it always requires double checking or rollbacks to a degree after deploys. He just doesn't want to pay fair wages and provide healthcare because he's an absolute POS.
This gaming exposure is bigger than people think for Elon's reputation. Many industry professionals would hear what Elon thought and know he was faking or full of it, he's been exposed many times for that, but gaming is way more broad. Many people can personally see the lies and recognize it themselves even if they haven't played POE2. He's looked at with more scrutiny now, people look back on things he's said in the past and are realizing he was just as full of shit there too.
