My theory, if I were being very charitable, would be that compared to other IT disciplines, a consuming interest in games (which is essentially escapism), poor social life and the resulting arrested development means you come into contact with minors over places like Discord and TeamSpeak. They can't see them so they develop parasocial relationships with the voices of people and build up a fantasy in their heads (and other interests). Maybe they find out they're underage but can't let go, maybe they're so starved they no longer care, and try and take advantage of them. In a lot of these texts with these minors, like with YandreDev and that The Anh guy, they all seem very needy, like it's not just manipulation, they've become emotionally dependent on these kids they've groomed to essentially act out their fantasy. They're almost all less mature and less well adjusted that their targets.
I'm getting horrified by the sheer amount of Roblox game developer pedophiles while researching. I did not know it was that bad.surprised nobody mentioned it yet. The dev team behind one of the most popular and long running roblox games called "Phantom Forces" were recently outed for protecting child groomers in their discord. Highlights include being weirdly secretive about a dev being outed as a pedophile, when one of the owners admitted to kicking out said dev only because "people found out about it and we had to do something".
I hate to admit it, as I love game design as a topic (board and tabletop). The correlation between games development and being a sex pest is definitely something that's observably true even irl.
When I was at university the games development course was infamous for housing the most concentrated band of social rejects and perverts on the campus, especially when compared to the other autistic IT majors, who were all a little spergy but generally good fun and didn't give off the same instinctive warning signs that the games dev crowd did.
Mandy Moore sounds familiar. Looked her up, doesn't seem particularly attractive.Well, he's right about the Olsen Twins being ugly kids, although I think they're still ugly as adults, and he's right about Mandy Moore now but I disagree about the AOC issue.
Saying "you know what you're doing" at 12 is actually good evidence lol. As someone who was 12, you definitely don't know what you're doing. Not appropriate at all and kinda gross, but that's hardly proof of being a pedophile.
What the hell is he doing there...?How can you leave out Randy Pitchford?
Ken McCulloch, a founding member of Precursor games and formerly the director of content at Silicon Knights, has been arrested in Canada on charges related to child pornography.
A Niagra police media release has detailed the situation and charges, which are yet to be resolved.
"On Thursday, June 27th, 2013, Detectives from the Internet Child Exploitation Unit/Child Abuse Unit, Technological Crimes Unit and Uniform Officers executed a search warrant at a St. Catharines residence. Subsequently, a significant number of computer systems and peripheral devices were seized as evidence. Kenneth McCulloch, 42 years old, of St. Catharines, Ontario, was arrested and is charged with one count each of Possession of Child Pornography, Making Child Pornography Available, and Accessing Child Pornography, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. This investigation is ongoing. McCulloch is being held in custody, pending a bail hearing scheduled for June 28th, 2013 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines."
Precursor is the company formed by many ex-Silicon Knights members, including Dennis Dyack. In a statement on the developer's official blog, CEO Paul Caporicci has declared that the company has severed all links with McCulloch - effective immediately.
"Having just learned of these disturbing charges today and based on the serious nature of them, Ken McCulloch is no longer affiliated in any way with Precursor Games," writes Caporicci. McCulloch's name has been expunged from the site and all staff listings.
Cliff Bleszinski, one of the game designers for Unreal, the original Gears of War and the maker of Lawbreakers is a known pedo poster.
In-acting his favourite fetish. Piss-playWhat the hell is he doing there...?
They were all turbo autistic in usually very inappropriate ways, one example I can remember off the top of my head was a GameDev student asked a female CompSci student in a shared module how it felt when she was molested by a family member. Admittedly that was one of the worse instances I was aware of, but while they never got handsy with anyone they would consistently make people uncomfortable either with direct comments or just by being very visible coomers with noticeably poor hygiene. What kind of warning signs? Is there a commonality? Computer people always strike me as...a bit odd.
Pretty much lines up with my experience studying CompSci 10 years ago. There were normal people and there were the real serious nerds, same thing with the tutors as well as the students tbh. The people who just saw IT as another skillset and another career, vs the spergs who grew up immersed in tech and were there because of autism. As for how they compared to the other IT speds, it was honestly like night and day. Yeah they were all quiet geeks that kept to themselves a bit more than most, but the Computer Science and Cyber Security lads would all socialise, go out with girls, and were all in established friend groups, just generally well adjusted young adults. There was also a significant IQ difference between them which I think contributed significantly, as the Game Dev course was effectively a heavily dumbed down version of the Comp Sci course they ended up with, by and large, the literal bottom of the IT barrel that couldn't get in anywhere else.

Brings me back to the tl;dr of my big post here:The correlation between games development and being a sex pest is definitely something that's observably true even irl.

It's interesting to hear that everyone else's experience with gamedev majors is the same as mine. Every single one I’ve met have been utter degenerates, the absolute bottom-of-the-barrel trash of STEM majors. If you take the worst traits of art students and mix them with the worst traits of STEMcels, you get gamedev students. Lazy, incompetent, pretentious, Breadtube fans, sex pests, every one of them is like that. And you could always tell the serious nerds from everyone else in all the stereotypical ways: bad hygiene, getting way too excited about talking to people with similar interests to the point it disrupted classes, and generally being inappropriate when socializing. I really really didn't need to learn from the one guy about how expensive it is to import Bad Dragon shit into this country because of the weight, and I really wish one of the others hadn't sent me down the rabbithole into discovering furry shit.
