Mike Johnson to uncover 'full truth' of J6 with new House subcommittee
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and House Republicans have announced the formation of a new subcommittee to further investigate the events surrounding January 6.
The subcommittee will be led by Representative Barry Loudermilk, who previously led the Republican investigation into the January 6 select committee and the security responses that occured on the day of the protest. Before he left office on Monday, President Biden issued
blanket pardons to lawmakers and staff who served on the January 6 select committee.
The subcommittee will operate under the jurisdiction of the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Representative Jim Jordan.
“House Republicans are proud of our work so far in exposing the false narratives peddled by the politically motivated January 6 Select Committee during the 117th Congress, but there is still more work to be done,” Speaker Johnson said in a statement. “We are establishing this Select Subcommittee to continue our efforts to uncover the full truth that is owed to the American people. The composition and other details regarding the Select Subcommittee will be announced soon.”
This move comes as the Republican Party intensifies its examination of the entire context surrounding January 6. The announcement also comes after President Donald Trump's decision to
pardon nearly all defendants connected to the protests on that day.
