I also checked RawPhil for DSP latest SF 6 bitchfest and apparently he ragequitted a ranked Honda mirror match and was in general more of a punching bag then usual. I give it to him that he isn't playing much but he should just shut up with "pattern, button mashing" etc. He has no longer an idea what works and what not so his limited knowledge makes him fail even harder. Of course, has always been lost and his general unpleasantness is nothing new, but the fact that he generally seems more lost than usual shows a deterioration in some way. Yes and he doesn't engage with any mechanics as you said. Also, his "every game is a ripoff of another" autism showed in the first stream when he tried repairing Makarovs by "combining" them like it's Fallout 3/NV. He also refuses to go artifact hunting which would buff his stats and which is the easiest way to make money in the games. He doesn't explore at all and just beelines towards quest markers as with every other game.

It reminds me of his starfield play through. He had his mind made up early he didn’t like the game and just miserably rushed through without engaging with any content outside of the main story while nitpicking every little thing in the process. I don’t think he ever went to a single planet he wasn’t directed to for a quest.

I would think it just got to him. You know how his whole day is like - reading hate, death threats, people pretending to like him, people charging back. This is pretty taxing even for a normal person. Now include the narcissism. Makes it 10x worse. Now imagine this life for 10 years.

It has completely poisoned what soul he had left, I guarantee you he is ALWAYS under stress about something.

Also, this is a boomer who is terminally online yet does not understand the internet and how to consume it in a healthy way.

Every day he thinks about the happiness he believes he deserves and is entitled to, but will never receive. While others like Wong and Max live the life he so desperately wants.

He can tell you he's happy all he wants, but the objective reality is that he is a tired, worn out, desperate and insecure bum who hates on everyone else because of his own nature.

And he will be like this until he dies, so enjoy the show.

It definitely showcases in his gameplay IMO. In SF6 he's forgetting increasingly basic mechanical aspects of the game he's played for hundreds of hours more often lately. Bitching and blame shifting is his reason for existing but constantly mashing after blocking a drive rushed normal and snorting "THAYUHHHTS MYYYY TURN GOOOBBB" is a new low that pretty much only makes sense for a day 1 player or someone with dementia.

There's so many examples recently where he seems to forget increasingly basic shit. His rant about the Switch Online emulation where he whined about Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time running with 'lag'... Games that ran at an inconsistent 20-30 FPS when they came out lol. He seemed to not remember a single element of Silent Hill 2's plot despite having demonstrably played it multiple times.

I'd never argue that Phil is happy with his position in life because obviously he's miserable, but his current life is the way it is 100% because he wants it that way. Someone mentioned he could monetize traveling---if he actually left the house to do stuff and did streams of it, he'd make a ton more money than he does now. If you suggest that, though, he'll call you stupid and tell you he works 6 days a week full time and can't take a vacation. He'll probably use the word "detractor" somewhere in there too.

But he WANTS his life to be him sitting in that office, drinking "booze" and eating fast food, and buying shit for himself. He's even convinced his wife that they can't travel because of Jasper (because in Phil's version of reality there are no cat sitters, no friends, no other way to feed a cat). So now for years he doesn't have to spend money or time on anything but himself. That's the way he wants it.

Phil remembers the things he cares about, it’s just that few of those things have anything to do with his Internet presence. He doesn’t care about his fans, he doesn’t care about the games he plays, so what reason does he have to learn anything about them?

I’ll bet you all the money I have that he damn sure remembers his rivals in Champions, or how much some dumbfuck fast food meal costs to be doordashed, or at least which restaurants deliver to him. Phil has to be given concrete, strong, immediate, and personally-relevant reasons to care about anything, and if you need proof then I’ll point you to the dozens of times he’s set down his controller and pouted about either the game spanking him harder than Skynet ever buttfucked humanity, or about not getting the money and dicksucking he wants in the moment. “I don’t care anymore”, rage/wagequits, refusing to fight the clock tower Nemesis boss in R3Make until his entire chat came to a consensus as to how to beat him. Phil doesn’t care about the games he plays, he only cares about the ego boost and the cash, so if he doesn’t get those then the world outside his four walls can go fuck itself.

Oh and he also cares about holding and winning grudges. Phil absolutely remembers every time some fellow high schooler dumped his books and called him an effeminate screech-voiced faggot (which he still is and always will be).
