So it's your speculation. You were saying every computer from China is pretty much backdoored but most backdoors are software and if they're phoning to something under China's control it would have absolutely been detected by now, whether it was on iOS, MacOS, Linux, Windows, or whatever you want. Similarly, you're saying that a Thinkpad with Linux tossed onto it is just as compromised as a Thinkpad with Windows, implying it's hardware.

Well if it's hardware then how does it function, how do they activate the backdoor without the hardware occasionally phoning home (independent of the OS mind you) and going undetected? The more detail you go into the more absurd it is a claim to say nearly everything from china is pwned.

I just don't want casual readers in here to take your schizobabble on this topic as gospel because the concern is reasonable and we shouldn't rely so much on China but it is more because it's a weakness of industry, not of backdoors which are usually through software which is an industry far less reliant on China.
THE OPERATING SYSTEMS ARE COMPROMISED

The hardware back doors are simply a fallback and how can you act like this is so far fetched when china is the one manufacturing and leading the industry in innovation in cybersecurity?

this isent schizo babble, state dept has been hacked, treasury dept has been hacked, they breached the damn social security number data base and leaked over 2.9 billion records

You think your lil toshiba is all kosher?

im not trying to be a fearmonger this is just the reality of how over the barrel letting you biggest political rival be your manufacturing hub leads to

I will NEVER trust another vaccine that isn't 50 years old and composed of the dead cells or weaker variant of a disease. I ain't putting that shit in my body.

Sure. Cause that worked out great for MacReady, didn't it? Sit the fuck down Xenos scum.

Great ending. Fantastic vision. I'd repeat it all over again if I could.

Childs was clean until he took that sip of booze from MacReady. What, you think that was gasoline and Childs failed the test? Lol, the Thing was smarter than that. Also MacReady just drank from that bottle too. A human body can't just drink gasoline without freaking the fuck out.
We need a Thing thread so I can prove that you don't believe in the superior American spirit without shitting up this one.

part of Idiocracy's premise is that all the "dumb" (i.e. conservative) people outbred the "smart" people (i.e. liberals)
I have not seen the movie, yet people say this. And every time they say this I think about how impossible that sounds like a concept that could be put to film without someone explicitly stating that sentiment in the movie. (And I guess expect the audience to go along with it). Does someone at some point turn to the screen and go "THE REASON EVERYONE IS DUMB IS BECAUSE STUPID PEOPLE OUTBREED SMART PEOPLE".
Like, the movie is about people being dumb. Okay, the leap from that to such a retarded eugenicist sentiment is a HUGE gap. When does it come into play that this was a result of dysgenics? Is there a plotline where the mc traces the genetic lineage of everyone and discovers this? I doubt it because that makes no fucking sense regardless.

Sorry to shit up the thread and veer off topic but the threat of Chinese manufacturing backdooring nearly every single device isn't sensible. I agree anything of importance shouldn't be made by the Chinese but it's more a strategic industry problem and industry in general should be moved away.

It's definitely a problem that most places lack the knowledge and manufacturing resources to even build half the tech shit China does. TSMC in Taiwan makes a significant chunk of the processors used the world over for a similar reason, China can't even compete, but it doesn't mean Taiwan has backdoored your CPU. Before someone brings up Spectre/Meltdown, that was on Intel... a US company. It was their code.

One thing Trump is good about is wanting more tech made here and incidentally the AI focus might help with that. I wish we didn't spend gorillions of tax dollars on AI funneled into the richest companies in the country (seriously look at Oracle!!!) but I understand why we're doing it. I wonder how many tax dollars go to quantum computing which is a proven strategic issue we should focus on beating China on.

Trump signing more EO's and Pardons now, declassified MLK JFK and RFK stuff:

It's wild watching MSM just be totally defeated and having no seat at the table for any sort of breaking news. Anons will leak it 20 minutes before some known small account leaks it then bigger accounts confirmed it then directly connected people confirm it meanwhile CNN and friends are debating about Elon and some EO's signed 3 days ago.

just because mRNA vaccines are a tool that was misused once doesn't mean it can't be worked into an improved version that can be useful under the right conditions
The problem I've seen raised with mRNA vaccines is they don't stay where they're supposed to. A recent mouse study showed that they do leak into the bloodstream, meaning they can end up making heart cells or other organs pump out these foreign proteins.

When foreign proteins are made by a cell, the immune system targets those cells (this security system is in place due to viruses doing the same thing).

If that happens to your arm muscle or liver, no big deal. You can replace those cells or regenerate the liver.

If that happens in the heart, or the brain (if the blood brain barrier is compromised which can happen with certain medical conditions or even traumatic brain injury) that is a big deal.
Brain damage is no joke, and the heart muscle has a limited capacity to regenerate. If you get a decent sized chunk of heart tissue targeted because a glob of the vaccine landed there, and add a bit of pressure -like exercise, or stress, you have sudden cardiac death.

Until they can guarantee they've fixed this problem and have a delivery system to mitigate this and make this risk tiny, I'm not touching mRNA.

Bret Weinstein has discussed this on a few different podcasts, but as mentioned research is coming out lending more legitimacy to the issues with them.

Some members of the Hispanic Caucus spoke today. The main points included:
  • repeating that their focus is "Dreamers, farm workers, and families"
  • immigrants are the backbone of the economy (multiple speakers used the specific phrase "an economy that works for everyone", too)
  • but who will work in the fields/work construction?
  • how can Trump say he wants to get rid of criminals when he pardoned the J6ers?
  • emotional appeals (specifically to women at one point) about how breaking up families is cruel and that they're our neighbors
There were some sillier things like emphasizing a Spanish accent on certain words or saying things like "Neuvo Mexico" but a couple of the guys did full on Spanish briefly. One of the first people to speak was Texas Representative Sylvia Garcia who said all this:
I guess it's the old judge in me. You know, I think some people need to just sit down and read the damn Constitution. Because frankly, if you read it, there is just no question the founders were crystal clear after debates about who can vote and who can be a citizen, who can actually, you know, it's this whole I wanted, I want to decide whether or not you're an American and whether or not you can vote and what, you know, they wanted to get rid of all that and they simply said all persons, all persons didn't even use a gender, born. Born. That means you were born in the United States or naturalized United States who are citizens of the United States. Any one of you have a question about that? It's pretty simple, right? It's easier than any civics exam or government exam or hell, it's probably easier than the citizenship exam that is administered to thousands of immigrants
(My emphasis, copy-pasted from the Cspan transcript)
She's just fucking wrong. The Founding Fathers did not define citizenship in the main body of the Constitution. It mentions naturalization and citizenship for the purpose of defining who can get elected to Congress or as President, but not what makes someone a citizen. The intent behind saying "all persons born" was to ensure all slaves became citizens.

Pajeet takes on Twitter are being repeated by sitting members of Congress.

Eggs are fucking amazing, and the price increases have been phenomenally large, and noticeable.
I was just at the grocery store and eggs climbed from $31 to almost $37 since I checked last month. Used to be able to buy 60 for $8, today it's nearly $37, more than tripled in just a couple years. All while news outlets praised Bidenomics. Yadda yadda never attribute to malice, but lately I'm 100% convinced everything happening is and always has been malicious. I don't know how much Trump can fix, but I'm wishing him the best.

The Internet is a massive network. If one (or millions to billions) of nodes in that network is compromised, then you must assume the whole thing is compromised. Fuck Chinese manufacturing, bring it all home.

@StudMccool

Should the US government push the use of rust, or would that not make a difference?
It would make zero difference, if the OSes are compromised, it's either embedding an already built binary (in which case, it's not gonna change), or there's actual source, but Rust isn't going to protect against intentional tampering, but more against accidental tampering.

It's also not perfect, there are absolutely ways to perform behavior that shouldn't happen in pure safe rust, and it wouldn't be easy to detect, as most people who would be looking for bad things would use proxies, like the use of unsafe, which would cloak this further.

far to late, only solution is a reliable AGI that can be trusted to go into these operating systems and telecom infrastructure and purge or disable all conventional computing not of American origin

its a race to build a "bigger computer" then shut off the other guys
