General Wrestling Discussion

If anything he'd get the Ultimo Dragon treatment, which I think is about appropriate for him.
and to be fair iirc Ultimo Dragon was specifically there to check a mania appearance off the list of "do literally everything in wrestling" so it wasn't like it was a huge slight to him to be an early match, the entire point of his WWE run was just to be on a Mania card

What baffles me is why he was one of the few Tony didn't keep upon buying ROH. He kept that fat fuck no dimes Shane Taylor and not Tony?
he's also booking my boy big beef in a strange way too. guy is built like terry gordy, moves like a junior heavyweight, and he isn't getting booked like the monster he is.

The chief good thing about Russo is that he cared about the undercard and tried to make sure everyone got used. Now sometimes it meant really garbage gimmicks but in general a lot of guys like Russo because he at least tried to make sure everyone was being used and that the undercard mattered just as much as the top card.
He also gave us Survivor Series 1998 which I think is a fantastic show.

So Baron Corbin is now officially The Nomad Bishop Dyer. A lot better than some of the previous stuff like NZO and CAZZ-XL.

If he's serious about wrestling, I think a year or two run in New Japan would do him wonders. I mean, they made Lance Archer seem legit after a laughable TNA run and forgettable NXT run.

Plus, Corbin could hit his entire offense on New Japan's roster and I think that would endear him to the crowd quickly. I don't remember if he could hit a End of Days on someone like Braun Strowman or not.

Someone posted earlier that it was very much an organic situation of getting over with the crowd through hard work and persistence instead of being liked by Vince. I liked Becky because she was spunky and fun to watch. But her appeal has worn away over time. Her character hasn't changed, there's been no real angle for her to be involved in the women's division, and she's just boring. The feud she had with Rhea Ripley in 2024 leading to Mania was actually giving me some hope for Becky. She seemed reinvigorated and was putting in some good promos. Hell, the match with Rhea was the best match at Mania following Roman vs. Cody on night 2.

Becky has some genuine go-away heat with me. If I never saw her on TV again, I wouldn't think it to be odd at all.

Does she still wear those stupid fucking goggles on top of her head? I'm sure it's just a personal thing, but that always annoyed me. I'm glad that whole stupid fad went away. Like she was going to be backstage welding something before/after her match.

Ever since he returned, Kenny Omega looks absolutely miserable on camera, I think he knows he's in a sinking ship and wants to go out as soon as possible.
I do feel bad for Kenny sometimes, he can get full of himself, but he is a legitimately great wrestler when he's on, and he seems like the only member of the Wannabe Kliq who isn't a slimy backstage politicker. Heck, he was the only guy trying to break the Punk/Bucks fight up. I hope he gets the chance to have one run in the promotion up north before retirement. The Bucks and Page, on the other hand, can fuck off back to the bingo halls.

Went on a small Hunter Hearst Hemsley binge and spotted this.

It was bizarre hearing the announcers try to advertise this mid-fight. What kind of kid would even hit up a Simpson Voteline while watching WWF?

I seem to remember a story about Omega being in developmental with WWE at one point. And I seem to recall Kenny basically told them to fuck off and left because they thought he needed more training, and Kenny took exception to that because he'd already made a bit of a name on the indies by that point and thought he was hot shit. But then this reason got twisted to be more about how Bill Demot(?) was a shitty person.
Am I retarded and making shit up? Or am I confusing Kenny in this story with someone else?

Either way I think his chances for a WWE run that isn't just a flash in the pan, participation trophy of a swan song are long gone.

Yeah, he had a run with the WWE developmental system in DSW doing house shows back in like 2005 I think? He was green as gooseshit and even more awkward speaking than he is now. Bob Holly hazed him so bad Omega asked to be released after less than a year if I recall.

Isn't his body at the end stages of falling apart from the style he wrestles? I would be depressed too if the twilight of my career was being wasted like Kurt Angle in TNA.

It was Konnan that said she cheated.
I 100% guarantee that this is some real woman denial like Adam Cole agreed to open their relationship so she technically wasn't cheating while she sucked off Tony Schiavone during Cole's Twitch stream.

tbh if I were him I would strongly fucking consider TNA if they are interested. Releasing Corbin was one of the very few head-starchers WWE has done as of late, they probably didnt have anything for him though.

honestly I look at Adam Cole and my gaydar would immediately be beeping, dude just comes off as a massive Homosexual

Also when he wanted to have his first run in ROH before he became hot shit in 2014, Jim Cornette wanted nothing to do with him because he saw the videos of him wrestling Yoshihiko (the blowup doll wrestler) and he wrestling a 9 year old in DDT because of some tapes that Adam Pearce showed him.

With all of these factors in mind, he didn't have too much of a future in America, back then and now, in which his career will probably end in a wet fart.

Oh no, Tony found new toys to play with? Color me shocked. Baker has too much talent to be held back by AEW.
The issue is that she's extremely disliked in the locker room, and the shit she's stirred while in AEW wouldn't be tolerated elsewhere. Even Punk, at the height of the AEW drama he was embroiled in, had a lot of close friends in the locker room; even Bakers previous close friends (e.g. Hayter) don't really fuck with her personally anymore from what I've heard.

She's refused to work with certain talent, has tried to pull "that doesn't work for me, brother"'s over being asked to job, stirred up a bunch of shit about MJF (back when he was actually a top guy and meant something) and got nuclear backstage heat because of it, tried to goad Marina Shafir into shoot kicking Thunder Rosa's ass for "sandbagging her" (and then bullied the fuck out of TR; calling her injury fake, spreading rumors that she was "unsafe" (when she was one of the safest workers in the division), etc.), buried an angle they were trying to do with her and Deeb by just yelling "NO ONE CARES" repeatedly as Deeb was trying to cut a promo (the angle was then unceremoniously dropped), is extremely difficult to work with (as per what agents have said), cheated on Adam Cole (who is beloved in the AEW locker room and still has tons of friends in WWE) and that's not even counting being injury prone, having had a lot of concussions for such a short career (one of which was really severe iirc) and even *having a stroke* a year and some change ago; her stroke was supposedly "minor" but she has absolutely not been the same physically since having it.

In short, she's a dramamongering cunt with brain damage.

She's talented by AEW women division standards (moreso in the past than now; at one point, she and Shida were the only ones remotely worth half a shit; these days, half the roster is better in the ring than she is, and numerous women in the division have as much or more charisma), but neither WWE nor TNA are hurting for great female wrestlers and neither are going to put up with all that horseshit to get what to them would be a C+ talent and I can't imagine her ego would let her sign with anyone smaller than them.

The only reason she isn't talked about in the same breath as Tessa Blanchard -- who to be clear is also more talented than Baker -- is because Blanchard was very publicly called out for racism or whatever, while more or less simultaneously fucking off to Mexico and holding up TNA for their belt. Baker has caused more drama than Blanchard, but never suffered being cancelled and hasn't tried to massively fuck a company over (yet) and so has flown under the radar.

Jokes aside, it was apparently Christian that she fucked (according to quite a few people, anyway) which is doubly hilarious because not only did Cole get cucked, but cucking a dude who practically looks like an IRL soyjak plays into Christian's gimmick.

Shockingly, Cornette has softened way, way up on Omega over the last year; he actually refers to him as "Omega" or "Kenny" rather than "Harpo Olivier Twinkletoes McFingerbang" or whatever. Presumably because it came out that Omega and Punk are still good friends, that Omega thinks that having a fist fight in the locker room is sometimes the way things need to be handled, and thinks the AEW EVP stuff is retarded and that he never wanted to be one.

When all is said and done, the craziest shit to come out of AEW may be AEW being so bad that it managed to not just change Cornette's opinion on Omega, but got him and Russo to agree on something for the first time possibly ever (the reasons AEW sucks).

Omega has definitely been critical of DeMott for being a bully, but if memory serves, his tryout was on a day Harley Race was visiting/guest coaching; iirc, they split the class up into two groups: one that Race thought was making good progress and one that Race thought needed more work before they were ready to move forward. Omega was in the latter group and took exception to it.

Yes, but he can still let the bean kick in and pull off a MotN when he really needs to like he just did with Gabe Kidd. I think his exit plan was to be an actual EVP and help book AEW, but Tony Khan happened.

Christian was the joke. It started over on /asp/ (might have been /pw/ by that time) because of this video Christian and Brit made for some comic con signing appearance. 4chan spun it up into a story about them fucking because it would work with Christian's character and fat fuck smarks content farming on /aspw/ started talking about it on twitter like it was real. Didn't help that Steve Sailor, the founder of Ringside News and an alcoholic, got worked by the tweets and started tweeting about it too while he was shitfaced. But that whole Christian thing was already built off of the jokes /asp/ had been making about Tony Schiavonne who more than likely actually was fucking Brit for a while. Like there was a lot of suspicious stuff going on with Tony and Brit to the point where Adam Cole was getting worked by it and talking about how much he hates Tony Schiavonne out of character.

I'm curious as to who is helping Harley Cameron with her in ring work because she is getting much better every time i see her on TV. She was originally trained by Breeze and Shawn Spears so she'd have a good foundation but she is surprisingly solid now for someone who only started in 2021. There's someone in AEW who is able to take these green-as-gooseshit girls and get them up to live TV standard within a few months. I know Jerry Lynn, Dustin and Dean Malenko worked with young talent in the early days and Danielson put on clinics for whoever wanted them when he was there but i don't know who is mentoring people now.

WWE were interested in her back in 2023 before she signed with AEW but the people pushing to get her into NXT were let go due to budget cuts. I can still see her ending up there eventually. Her charisma is off the charts and she is over as fuck despite never having won a single match on TV.
