I haven't seen any evidence that there is a DEI-infused game that the above poster won't rush to defend with a variant on "it's not that bad" post.
Points for consistency, I suppose.
I don't remember there being that many. But if you want some:
- I've always bitched about woke shit in RDR2. I didn't mind it as much when I played it, but it put a foul taste in my mouth that's grown with time. Put this way, I've never REPLAYED that game and my disdain for the
VERDICT: WOKE AND ANNOYING
- When I replayed Mafia III I realized that it was a million times worse than I remembered. I remembered it being kind of based compared to RDR2, but in retrospect I think a lot of the little details flew past me the first time because it hit at the start of the clown world, not later on. I couldn't bring myself to finish it.
VERDICT: WOKE AND ANNOYING
- I don't remember if I've ever talked about Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry, but it's kind of shitty in general (both as a game and in that it's so overdone that it takes any oomph out of its subject matter).
VERDICT: NOT EXACTLY WOKE BUT A SHITTY GAME
- I wasn't inherently opposed to Yasuke in Assassin's Creed: Shadow and think he could have been done fine. Them being retarded about how they handled this controversy put a bad taste in their customer's mouth, but I don't really give a fuck about that. However, people say they've been so sloppy (in addition to boring gameplay) with details that it just loses a lot of what made old AC games great. With a small map (not all of Japan in miniature like Origins did with Egypt) I don't even know why I should want to play it instead of Ghost of Tsushima (which was bland but extremely well-produced).
VERDICT: LOOKS SHITTY, PROBABLY WON'T BUY
- AC Odyssey has hoplites that don't fight with shields, warrior women Spartans, Blacks everywhere, lots of diverse faggotry and it's a huge chunk of why I never played it (besides not being able to get into Nu AC that they launched with Origins; Unity was the last one I played that I really genuinely enjoyed, with Syndicate and Origins both putting me to sleep).
VERDICT: SO WOKE I DIDN'T EVEN TRY IT
- AC Valhalla looked way more appealing just for its sea roving. The heckin wholesome pagans vs the eeevil Christians really puts me off. I understand it to have some weird forced diversity and fag shit. Mostly just heard it was boring as hell. Since I play a bit of Mount and Blade: Viking Conquest now, I don't know as there's even a point, Mount and Blade is old and ugly as hell and not an open world in that sense, but it's a genuine simulation of the time period.
VERDICT: KIND OF WOKE, DIDN'T TRY IT BUT DUE MORE TO BEING BAD?
- Battlefield 1 was really gay in how it did diversity. One of those cases of "technically accurate, but blown way out of proportion." I didn't mind Sikh British and Black French as much, but Black Germans bothered me a lot more (they were only in the colonies, to my knowledge) and I hate hate hated the Women's Battalion of Death for the Russians. They could have done a couple of Tanganyika maps with Lettow-Vorbeck's army instead. I didn't mind them putting a Harlem Hellfighter on the cover and using them for the opening mission, but I didn't like it having whole classes be minorities, meant they were everywhere. The game itself was amazing.
VERDICT: FORCED DIVERSITY BUT GOOD
- Battlefield 5 lost me completely (never bought it, never played it) because they went so overboard with the Cyborg Celtic Warrior Woman shit that I wasn't going to indulge it at all.
VERDICT: SO WOKE I DIDN'T EVEN TRY IT
- Far Cry 5 was weird in that it wasn't woke woke but instead this sort of gay conservative "based minorities" kind of woke? It was really weird where the fight was between a highly multiracial Y'all Qaeda with any specific identifying ideals or symbolism stripped out (Christian themed on sight, yet nothing actually explicitly Christian) versus your merry band of bartenders, Black preachers, Black woman veterans (groan), White redneck pilot veterans (based) and other stuff. It basically sold itself as a Red America power fantasy where you fight a villain out of a typical Blue America power fantasy. It was just odd and it had no point, but it wasn't malicious in any way.
VERDICT: CRINGEY
In summary: suck my dick. But if you want to bring up any specific game, I'm happy to answer questions on it.
You all won't care, but there is a very annoying groupthink trend on here that you can't just disagree or have different tastes about something.
I've never had such mixed feelings about a game. Pretty fun, had based Western Americana aesthetics but was so blatantly, disgustingly, insultingly subversive that I honestly can't recommend it and will probably never give Rockstar money again
Oh yeah. It managed to be incredibly engaging with its worldbuilding, realistic dialogue, just the way that you could bum around camp and talk and eat a beefsteak made it feel absolutely engrossing. And it made me feel absolutely greasy afterwards. I both love and hate it (and haven't touched it since).
As you might expect, the way it depicted the South especially pissed me off (as it did with Mafia III).
