Some of the money raised through public speaking, donations, etcetera was used to host private parties MLK attended. Informants and at least one invited preacher (who hated MLK after attending) described the place as full of homosexuals having gay sex, orgies and whatever the hell "whiskey tricks" are. There's apparently a long list of MLK holding these sorts of sex parties. He had a fetish for white women, apparently, and "teaching them" how to be whores. MLK is also a baby daddy with an illegitimate child. Was also fucking Joan Baez.

To be frank, I'm on the fence on the revelations regarding MLK Jr. mostly because these documents were written by the FBI.
It is to note that this was during the times when the FBI was the prime suspect behind the assassination of JFK so I may have to take these files with a grain of salt. In addition, the FBI director J. Edgar Hoover has a massive hate-boner for MLK Jr because he suspected that the Civil Rights Movement was influenced by the Communists, so we are anticipating heavy bias against King. The FBI convinced RFK, who was Attorney General at the time, to authorize wiretaps on King's home and SCLC meetings and offices.
With these wiretaps, the FBI could find defamatory information to then send it to mainstream media who would then report it to defame King's reputation, of which King is currently seen as a wholesome family man and devout Christian. The FBI soon found alleged evidence of King's affairs with other women and that his associates are communists (but are unable to find King is a direct communist) so they bundled all this information into
a letter as blackmail to tell King to kill himself. The FBI did not find any success with defaming King however, as mainstream media refused to report on the FBI's evidence believing it to be faked. The alleged FBI evidence regarding King being an adulterer, a plagiarizer, and a suspected Communist is already common knowledge due to this information already being released. (

It can be stated that what these documents prove is to confirm or to add onto the FBI's hostile perception of King and the SCLC, where King is an adulterer and although not communist, his associates were despite not knowing it.
@Hey Johnny Bravo already noted that these documents confirmed that the plagiarism accusations against him are because of the people surrounding King.
However, it is to note that the plagiarism accusations are related to the doctorate that he did in systematic theology at Boston University, which was before King's focus on activism. (
corrected by Johnny) What the recently unclassified files do not tell us is whether if the FBI did or did not authorize James Earl Ray to assassinate MLK Jr. The document is dated 12 March 1968. Ray assassinated King on 4 April 1968, less than a month later.
The documents that were released today regarding King is basically an add-on to whatever we already know. If King is actually a degenerate and an affiliate to the communists, then the conclusion is we are to believe that the FBI is true to this regard and to add-on that we are living a lie that King is a hero. If we believe the FBI is amoral in its dealing with King, then what the documents prove is more information confirming their biased hatred against him. These documents do not prove that based on either of these assertions, the FBI assassinated King through Ray.
It is to note that King's family believes that the FBI is responsible for King's death, because if the blackmail and defamation attempts failed for the FBI, why wouldn't they try assassination to defeat King?
