Every time I see some shit like this showing someone clearly out of touch with reality, I think of this interview.

We have a constant stream of people who think food just appears on shelves like it's a video game. Same group of people, mind you, that assume that rising cost of goods have nothing to do with their shitty policies and just "corporate greed".
[sneed]Food comes from where you buy it from, everyone knows that. DUH. Where else would it come from. If you got it from somewhere else that'd be where it came from[/sneed]

The MLK files that revealed he was actually a sex pest and potentially a communist asset were quite shocking. And apparently, that’s not even the full story—there are claims those revelations are based on older files, not the new ones Trump ordered to be released. It seems there could be even more secrets waiting to be uncovered.

This also made me realize that maybe many of us misunderstood the reasons behind why some of these files are top secret. In part, they may have been protecting our image of certain individuals as heroes or saints. I can’t help but wonder what the JFK files will show. Will they reinforce the image we have of him, or could they alter our perception entirely?

Anyone want to guess which state this video was filmed in?

Bonus question: who was that 'you need to leave!' directed at?

What, is the JFK revelation is that he didn't enjoy a good fuck after all?

It probably won’t surprise you, but in my supermarket wagie days you’d have customers who genuinely seemed to think there were live cows and pigs in the back of every Kroger and Farmer Jack’s, and that we kill ‘em ourselves…

That's because they pump that shit into your head while you still have a soft spot. Otherwise, you'd ask questions. Questions like... how is this person "speaking truth to power" when he's meeting with LBJ...
1737780480254.png
whose having federal marshals point their rifles at white students to force desegregation...

while giving a speech in front of national monuments?

were...borrowing heavily from the Japanese in animation style and quality.
I thought that was one of those TMS-animated type joints?

also makeup is gay and unrealistic
it took me forever to really convince the wife I was sincere in preferring her without makeup
I did stage stuff so I know what a bullshit it is, and it sucks to kiss makeup, shit tastes gross.
I get there's times there's a use for it but yeah nah not when I'm looking to make out

TL;DR: the headline (NB though, it's domestic birds generally, not just chickens, the article mentions turkeys specifically as well)

So, eggs. Eggs are a basic and integral part of cuisines worldwide, and fundamental to the entire art of baking. They are a ubiquitous commodity, and a staple in many diets. They should be widely available, and cheap.

They have instead become a poster child for unaffordable groceries, and a rallying cry for Republicans against Biden, and now Democrats against Trump. Covid disruptions, supply chain fuckery, rising fuel prices, wars, and general inflation have caused grocery prices to skyrocket; but ALL of those incredibly potent factors FAIL to account for the rise in egg prices, which additionally face supply issues due to massive culls of populations in which avian flu is detected. Avian flu has reservoirs in wild bird populations which interact with and can infect domestic flocks, requiring that an entire flock be destroyed after a single case is found to ensure that they do not become a reservoir for the disease and spread it further.

So, obviously it's not Trump's fault that eggs are expensive. But both Democrats and Republicans are right to be upset that they are, and it should be Trump's glory that eggs become cheap once again. A day 1 EO set a broad agenda to tackle the crisis of rising prices, and mentions food, but Trump should make eggs a priority. They have risen in price more than other goods, yet are a more crucial staple than many other affected foods. He should mention them by name, identify the failures which led to their unaffordability (a Trump specialty), and blaze a path forward towards cheap eggs for every American.

Given that avian flu is difficult to contain and culling practices are undoubtedly necessary, subsidies to aid in replenishment of flocks will help stem the bleeding of egg farmers whose livelihoods can be suddenly wiped out without warning, yet who will still have all the necessary facilities and expertise in place to go right back to work. Investment in safe, healthy, high quality breeding farms will prime the pipeline to allow farms to expand, and new mid-size farms to be started by entrepreneurs; with prices so high, government assurance against risk should remove any impediment to explosive growth in supply until prices can at least normalize against general inflation. And to get people involved at all levels, the Trump administration can work with local governments on zoning, construction and resources to allow everyday Americans opportunities to keep chickens of their own.

This isn't about political points. It's not about the next election. It's about what's right. Try to imagine a great nation in which eggs are expensive, where a man chooses between an omelette for his breakfast...or a birthday cake for his daughter. Expensive eggs are the great, dark frontier of the iniquity into which our feckless government has thrust us. Cheap eggs, great America.

Thank you for coming to my EGG talk.
Maybe chickens should be classified as domestic pets like parrots and other small birds? Some people keep pet chickens anyway.

Some more people being fired from government positions by Trump.

Trump fires at least 12 independent inspectors general in late-night purge

The White House late Friday fired the independent inspectors general of at least 12 major federal agencies in a purge that could clear the way for President Donald Trump to install loyalists in the crucial role of identifying fraud, waste and abuse in the government.

The inspectors general were notified by emails from the White House personnel director that they had been terminated immediately, according to people familiar with the situation, who like others in this report spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private messages. The dismissals appeared to violate federal law, which requires Congress to receive 30 days’ notice of any intent to fire the inspectors general.

Some of the government’s largest agencies were involved, including the Departments of Defense, State, Transportation, Veterans Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, and Energy.

Most of those dismissed were Trump appointees from his first term, which stunned the group.

“It’s a widespread massacre,” said one of the fired inspectors general. “Whoever Trump puts in now will be viewed as loyalists, and that undermines the entire system.”

Another fired watchdog said that the new administration “does not want anyone in this role who is going to be independent.”

“IGs have done exactly what the president says he wants: to fight fraud waste and abuse and make the government more effective,” the second person said. “Firing this many of us makes no sense. It is counter to those goals.”

White House aides did not respond to a request for comment.

Some inspectors general are presidential appointees, while others are designated by the heads of their agencies. They serve indefinite terms and typically span administrations to insulate them from shifts in political winds. A president can remove them but must notify both chambers of Congress in advance.

During his first term, Trump fired five inspectors general in less than two months in 2020 — including at the State Department, whose inspector general had played a minor role in the president’s impeachment proceedings and had begun investigating alleged misconduct by then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Some lawmakers criticized the move as a retaliatory purge.

Inspectors general are designated to act as watchdogs in federal agencies, with investigatory powers to look into allegations of waste, fraud and abuse.

Before the firings, there were 74 inspectors general across the federal government, some with large staffs numbering in the thousands.

The news left some employees in the offices “absolutely shocked,” said one senior executive in an inspector general’s office, who was not authorized to speak on the record.

“This is totally unprecedented. It’s what we were fearing. There was noise during the transition about him doing this and some statements made during his campaign” by Trump’s aides, the executive said.

I caved and ordered some my pillows as well, plus some flannel sheets to boot. I've been meaning to get some for a while.

The California discussion with Trump was a breath of fresh air. When was the last time I saw a president sitting down with state and local government and actually having an honest discussion on what needs to be done?

Not only giving advice but also taking suggestions from others who are there? Plus calling out the smug bitch mayor? It was genuinely nice to see.
