Why is there no texture filtering? Old video games would never have these ugly pixelated textures and even newer pixel art games actually try to make it look appealing. Also, old games used to draw lots of details onto characters to make them look cool.

The game you're quoting seems to be aping closeups of Final Fantasy VII models to a T. Deus Ex is a generation ahead of that. Anyway, the whole movement is just warped nostalgia.

I think I read the entirety of Berserk, mostly because I genuinely liked it and its main character Guts. That’s, I think, one thing that I didn’t feel ashamed reading.

That is one thing about these types you learn in anime and manga they play it as safe as possible and to add onto @ssaneenah point a lot of them just don't get it. Berserk's world is pure dark fantasy the good times are overshadowed by the bad and the things i see is people bringing up the rape and gore which isn't picky at all. Nearly all the main characters have been raped and nearly eviscerated to show how the world of Berserk doesn't shy away from topics like you'd seen in a typical shounen for teenagers. Those aren't the issue it's as stated people treating them like they're masterclasses of writing then they read something like Berserk as an example and their brain shuts down because they can't handle heavy topics being depicted in anyway since they're so used to dudes powering up and punching each other through mountains.

Unless it breaks the graphics I personally prefer no texture filtering on LED screens. Blurred out textures are AIDS and bilinear filtering makes games in lower resolutions look muddier than they need to be. I prefer looking at the raw textures, I grew to love Nearest Neighbor for all my old games even if they seem crunchier, I can handle the jaggies if it means I get a much clearer picture at the same res. It all started with HL1. And modern terrible implementation of TAA
