Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

The only thing I really hate about cars now is that I can't find fucking parking almost anywhere in NYC and surrounding areas. All of the money that you have to spend just to own and use a car on a semi-regular basis is insane. Now there is a new congestion pricing program as well that started this month. No wonder so many people hate this fucking place. I'm so glad I sold my car during the height of car prices after COVID, but my girlfriend has a car so I'm using that now but it's an even bigger piece of shit than the one I had (went from a 2009 honda shitvic to using a cheap korean shitter). It still is nice to have a vehicle that can hold a lot of stuff sometimes so I don't have to rent or borrow someone else's if I need it. The redditors are just hilarious though.

One of his posts stated that farmers from rural PA used railroads to get their goods to Reading Terminal Market, which is not true at all, farmers from surrounding areas used horses and wagons to go the main market, which then was distributed on trains.
Also, so called "milk run" traffic on railroads? Farm-to-market and market-to-city moves? Have been obsolete since the 50's not just because trucks out-competed the trains, but?

More importantly?

Advancement in technology meant both your grocer and your home could have mechanical refrigerators in them, and there was no longer a need to buy fresh milk and veggies and meat every day, you could actually store them for a couple weeks......

Shopping habits changed accordingly, (ever wonder what's so "super" about the "supermarket"? prior to that, every single commodity had a dedicated store) and so did the demands for large amounts of produce to make local-only moves.

>oy lad 'op on your Steely Two-Wheely an' fetch us some groceries so we can eat some foine Bri'ish cuisine for suppah!
>tangerines and potatoes

"Twenty pounds of groceries" sounds much more impressive than whatever the fuck single bag shit that guy had. We're supposed to clap?
He literally brought the receipts. Guy, were you really expecting widespread disbelief that you bought cat food and water at the grocery store and fit it in a backpack?

Again buying goods by bike can be nice and fun, I like to go buy fresh milk from the farm next door like that, but boy how annoying can they be with their weird elitism.
Also it made chuckle because they're usually the same people who are adepts of "but what about the disabled people" in any conversations, including being too depressive to have the spoon doing anything (which is a real symptom don't get me wrong) or other invisible handicaps.
And yet if you don't use a bike for everything you are just lazy. But I guess european cities don't have disabled inhabitant.
Nice ableism Jonassalem!:tomgirl:

Yeah I was going to say 20 GBP = 24.97 USD. The fact that all he got was some snacks, a box of cat food, and a six pack of water. That's really not a flex, it's actually kinda just depressing tbh. He's carrying 6 items and thinks it's a lot lol.

-16 puts you at risk for frostbite in 10 minutes, much less than 30. I've been outside in temps like that, it's so cold that it hurts to breathe and your eyelashes freeze
That's what I've been thinking tbh. The fuckcars people are always trying to reach to own the chuds they put themselves through various forms of masochism to prove how tough they are and how weak everyone else is. I've been thinking how long until they start doing something legitimately dangerous or lethal to themselves.

I really do dislike this group, but the one reprieve I get is the fact that they seem hellbent on making their own lives worse in order to spite the chuds. Moving to a high crime dense urban area, riding cramped subways with airborne pathogens and hobos. Riding bicycles in freezing temperatures that could cause lasting damage, etc.

Regarding the mask, it's because he's afraid of breathing in water vapor and CO2:

I hope this isn't too harsh, but almost certainly not undeserved as it's clear he hates you if you drive a vehicle.

It's also just pathetic, I've carried more than that in a backpack walking several km's(plus a satchet with more as well, admittedly mostly to/from/between various PT stops to get drunk at a party across the city lol)

It's speaks volumes that they are so desperate for 'wins against the carbrain chuds' that the most venal basic bitch uses they consider a win.

I think it says way more about redditors that they actually think “I went to the store” is some kind of major life accomplishment instead of basic bitch life tasks that 6 year olds can do.

Oh shit! I just walked to the store for milk in the freezing cold without a mask! Because it was easier than firing up the death machine 9000 )a fucking minivan) give me all those stickers brooooo I’m redddddddditmaaaaxing

He posts to /r/statecollege and has stated he lives in Centre Co., PA. It's a small-ish college town and has two big hardware stores on the edge of town. The blue (not orange) carts suggest Lowe's, and in Google Maps an apartment complex is right across the street from Lowe's. Notice that he didn't give the distance he cycled; he probably literally took a quarter mile distance and then used as a flex about "not needing a car". There's also actual houses to the west, again, a short distance away.

The person is a Troon. Dox incoming.

Would sell out is fellow man? You know this nigga was a frequent caller for the Covid snitching hotline.

I was in a red state (in America) during COVID and masks were off by summer 2021, was there a hotline in the UK for COVID-related violations or is that just hyperbole?

I lived in an area once where I could walk to the store (Walmart) and pick up ingredients for that night's dinner. It was a neat gimmick, but my place was very small and shared, the neighborhood kind of sucked, and I still needed my car to get to work or my favorite supermarket.

I think I only did the "walk to the market" trick less than five times, and helped solidify my opinions on the matter. It was never what I really wanted, and for what I did have, never worth it.

The "thing" is about 3.5 miles away from the Lowes. Zillow indicates the property was bought on 6/12/2018 with no more subsequent sales. The subject is a biologist and should be able to afford the house. Interestingly, a 2024 Streetview of the house indicates that Troon has a car.

I once saw an apartment skyscraper built on top of a 24-hour grocery store. That almost made me a tiny bit jealous, as the ability to slip down the elevator right into the store anytime for anything would be nice many a time.

But the reality is you have to redesign your entire “home life” around having basically nothing on hand (quick question for meditation- how many different meals can you cook with what you have on hand?)

And 80% of it can be replicated in a suburb if you want - just check your walking distance to the nearest store/gas station.

Yeah, The UK and some US states had special hotlines. Internet Historian did a good job covering it in a video and the response between US and UK citizens about it.

Oh dear, it just keeps getting worse, doesn't it? Well, there's those goofy toe shoes he alluded to and the only reason why those stupid got things had some level of popularity was false claims about how good it was for walking, which ended with a class action lawsuit.

I can't figure out who owns the house as Centre Co. keeps its records inaccessible to the public without a costly subscription or in person, though this page suggests unrelated renters. One of the names is feminine, so I'm 70-30 on it being a troon dungeon than just a girl living in a house with guys.

Not to mention the fact that even before COVID a few places were cutting back on 24 hour service. I'd be hard pressed to find a 24H supermarket now.
