Greenland is a bit of an interesting situation to me. It's a piece of land in which a majority of its natural resources are still in tact, but a majority of its GDP comes from imports from Denmark. Not only that, half of its citizens are in governmental positions to maintain said imports. Which means everything hinges on their codependence. Without it, the country would unironically be on the same level as American territories like the Samoa islands, if not worse. Despite that, the people of Greenland have stated they were seeking independence. With all things considered, if they did went fully independent, they would have to either figure out a way to extract Greenland's resources to maintain their economy, or start accepting imports from other countries (i.e: the US, China, etc). Even if Greenland didn't want the US to purchase them, they would HAVE to find a way to fill in that gap Denmark provided. Although that depends on whether or not they truly break off from Denmark & their imports.
