Their Wikipedia page makes for some mildly interesting reading. In 16 years they've produced 3 games (technically 2 until SoM actually releases) and it looks like they were bought by Microsoft after We Happy Few released.
I had no memory of their first game, Contrast, until I looked up an LP and instantly recognised the mime-looking woman from every Steam sale ever. Dunno how the game was, but it is certainly very >watches Coraline once in its art direction.
Not worth an OP, but worth an effortpost. I say wait till this shit ends or implodes.

The whole "GoonerGate" thing is ending a lot quicker than I thought it would. I thought they'd put up more of a fight over it. I guess losing their main revenue source wasn't enough to die on that hill. Then again, getting dunked on for being that much of a fucking retard would wear the fight out of anyone, I guess.
Also, I don't know if anyone saw, but it looks like Pocket Pair (Palworld's developer) is partnering with another wing called Surgent Studios. Apparently they have ties to Sweet Baby, so it looks like Palworld is officially fucked. The fact that they already had the Nintendo lawsuit to deal with, and now THIS bullshit knocking at their door, yeah. Their days are numbered.

Alot of people seem to forget that Pocket Pair's previous game (Crafttopia) not only was one of the first games to add pronoun options, but was also one of the first games that allowed you to be non-binary.

Seems to be a publishing deal, not a partnership.
Palworld has to be a money printer if they think they can expand into publishing and risk financing a horror game (limited market) set in the flopped ZAU universe (no brand recognition).
I still wonder why Surgent Sudio even worked with SBI on ZAU, considering the game director already checked the boxes (Abubakar Salim).

My point was that Pocket Pair was always woke so it didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
And no, a developer saying it's because "Americans" like to make very ugly characters isn't a good excuse on his part, especially when it's easily proven untrue by the popularity of coomer content and games like Concord failing very hard.

Supposedly The Real Game Awards aired and people aren't happy about it. I don't know the details yet, but some tranny that made a Blood Bourne fangame is gloating about winning an award, and some boomer shooter dev is throwing a tantrum on social media because their trailer was featured. Sorry to correct this one. In doing research for the OP, the Lara Croft statue had the jacket for at least two years. Prior to that it wasn't visible in the background, so either she didn't have it or wasn't regularly visible.
Trent is one I don't know. He's supposedly a Christian podcaster and criticism of him gets his fanbase mad. Had no interest in games until GoonerGate and is likely a grifter.

I’ve seen this happen before but with “sex positive feminists” types. They use their tits to get attention until they age out and there’s a new crop of younger attractive women. Then they pull the ladder up and say that they never used their sexuality to get ahead, it’s wrong to do that, then start yapping about the male gaze.
I seem to remember the Lara Croft statue/cutout being on display full display without covering all the time. Is it that long since I’ve watched her? I tuned out when she went full bible thumper LARP.
