South of Midnight, Sweet Baby Inc's next potential disaster, got an extensive showcase in yesterday's Xbox Direct. It won't let me embed the livestream but I've timestamped it here.

I don't know if it was intentional, but they seem to try very hard to show as little character dialogue as possible, while the Black Kweens on the dev team gush about how incredible the game is. There's also a token white guy who looks like a soybeard cuck and white woman who delivers her lines with all the warmth and enthusiasm of an autopsy.

I still think the game looks cool but reckon it's going to bomb because, aside from the unique setting and art style, it looks like another generic character action game with the bare minimum of RPG elements.

I also wonder how angry the team are that their game was sandwiched between Ninja Gaiden 4 from Platinum Games and Doom: The Dark Ages, both of which look absolutely phenomenal. At least they had the company of some gay French turn-based RPG, too.

Honestly, not really. Jon is so much of a nobody lolcow that he's not even worth the usual KiwiFarms expose. He doesn't have as much of a reach as Melonie or Razorfist does. I believe this is because the game is incredibly bland. Pretty, but bland.

I'm kind of hoping with Trump ending a lot of these DEI programs Federally that it'll force a lot of corporate America to follow suit. We'll see how it goes, but so far, it looks like a lot of people are changing their job titles and trying to save their own ass as the winds change. No one's falling for their collective grift anymore, but it'll still be at least two more years before we start to see some normalcy in the industry again. AAA is drying up collective good will by dying on the DEI hill, studios are closing left and right. The only thing that seems to be saving a lot of gaming is Eastern developers, and even then, I'm wary of a lot of the Chinese ones since they're largely funded by the CCP.

I've been just dipping into my backlog and buying up older titles on the cheap. It's weird. I used to buy like .. 3 or 4 titles a year brand new when I was younger, but now? It's lucky you'll see me buy 2 brand new (that isn't on sale).

The framerate thing they're doing too looks awful.

They're trying to mimic stop motion animation, and they're utterly failing at it. It's a purely cinematic choice, because the brief gameplay and movement vids I've seen have the character moving normally. It's exceptionally disjointed and doesn't seem like it meshes and flows with the overall animation of the game very well.
