Suggestion and Update Thread

I'm wary of splitting up chat myself because we only have like 20-40 people on chat on average, and I worry that it'd slow to a glacial pace if we divided it too much. I don't think we need to worry too much about it because chat seems to ebb and flow between the topics that interest people naturally; I think Jace is naturally going to get brought up when Jace things happen, Chris discussion will happen when Chris things happen, and the "*pets*" people will... well, they'll always be there, lurking in the shadows.

I think Jace is lame but I'll just avoid chat for most of Wednesday, that's all.

I'd agree but the problem is there seems to be a few people who feel very strongly about not wanting to see the Jace stuff. I love the Jace conversations but I know other posters whom I have respect for seem to hate it with a passion. I don't know what the best solution is but I think everyone crammed together is only going to cause internal drama. The suggested lolcow chat and general chat seems like the best option so far.
 
Well the thing is, the -pets- people don't want to lurk in the shadows. There's a very distinct culture that's developed on the forum that did so without the presence of any active lolcows. Adding in the new people and new topics upsets the balance of that ecosystem and it won't survive with this level of disturbance. It's healthy for the board to have a level of compartmentalization.

I was being facetious when I said "lurk in the shadows" but yeah. Hopefully I'm totally wrong and it'll work out. Maybe I'm worrying too much because I've accidentally become the head of the Jace Craze and therefore feel responsible for it, but obviously the last thing I want to do is drive a wedge between people.

"ween" is a phrase for a tryhard troll. Chris being an example. People calling Chris and just screaming Juulay" and ween, more so if they come here and brag about it. What I am alluding to it most of the jace trolls" are tryhards, jace makes all the content himself. The "trolls" just want publicity and bash jase hoping to be popular for it. Chris posted his scrap for a specific persron on youtube each time until he learned not to. Jace posts his for the trolls. Use common sense on that part.

Just my opinion but it's pointless to have 3 chats...if you don't like the current topic of the chat just do something else until it changes.

Jace's stream lasts hours. During that time I noticed a huge shift in chat population. It may go up, but a lot of the folks that'd be around normally disappear.
 
what about a second chat just for the streams when he is streaming?
 
I mean, if I really busted my ass, I could make it somewhat like IRC where anyone can open their own page in chat and people can click into it.
 
I really like the idea for a separate Jace chat. I think it'll make the "pets" crew happy, and head off something that could become divisive. I'm behind the three chat room system for sure, it'll provide more space for different types of discussion.

Or just chat about what you want and ignore the topic that you don't care about. This becomes harder to do if chat someday starts getting 50 people at once or something, but like sometimes political discussions start up and other people go berserk and start posting photos of animals or whatever and I just ignore the animal photos.

There's other stuff to be fixed on chat already, no need to bust your ass to completely reformat it.

There's only a few people here who don't care about Jace,me included of course.

I will just accept the fact that Wednesday is Jace day. I just won't be in chat too much that day...it's a simple solution. It's not like there's not 6 other days in the week.

I vote for just one chat.
