To be honest, I completely forgot about that like 5 minutes after I posted it. It was dumb and amusing. Good for a quick laugh. Just hoarding for the sake of hoarding, and hoarding something he's never seen, and probably never intends to just made it seem even more like a cry for attention. Not even particularly fun.
It was kind of the opposite of the autistic Perfect Dark girl from reddit I also posted. Sure, she's got hundreds of copies of Perfect Dark Zero for Xbox, but she plays it, enjoys the game and character, and does a pretty great cosplay of her too. She's also self-aware that she's consooming and has actually built a bit of a fanbase because she has a sense of humor about it and likes to talk to people. It makes her happy. She's definitely a consoomer, but seems pretty cool and harmless.
Troon, on the other hand just has DVDs. Tons and tons of DVDs. And it's not even for a goofy joke like the guy with thousands of copies of Shrek on VHS, or the guy who used to have a website where you could mail him copies of Shaq Fu and he'd send you like $2 each, supposedly to contain them from shitting up the world any more.
Troon guy is just kinda sad and weird.

Troons are narcissistic, that is their main character flaw and unfortunately only defining trait in one neat package. I used to be tolerant of them like in the early 2010s, but realized that they not only out there to colonize everything, it's not even about "gender dysphoria" it's basically just getting their narcissistic supply and license to bully people.
I am sure they can't look away. They are in need of constant validation and are always monitoring whenever that could be used to farm attention in their community. Being mentioned on KF must be like a sort of street cred, just for troons.

The thing that differentiates this troon from the other autists you mentioned, is that the autists are passionate about what they're collecting, whether it's passionate love or passionate hate. They are connected to what they consoom, either because they enjoy it or because they want to destroy it.
Troon just picked a random movie. Hasn't even watched it, but he thinks that accumulating copies of it will make him seem kind of quirky and maybe a little bit interesting. He's trying to use it as a stand in for having his own personality. Rather like someone who keeps books because they think that owning a copy of War and Peace makes them look smart even though they've never and will never so much as crack open the cover.

Book Hauls man, every social media based community will end up degrading into endless consumerism. Because it's easier to buy a metric ton of stuff than actually do things when it comes to regular content.

Chinese marketing is addicted to selling westerners stuff with this gambling shit. An example I've encountered is a seller of flashlights, their entire thing is headlamps, flashlights, those lamps that mount onto guns. And they implemented a wheel to spin for prizes into the site. I wonder if they're allowed to do this to Chinese citizens or if it's exclusively when they export sales to the west.

I would understand that if these books were worth anything. But booktok and similar groups on other platforms buy exclusively the most basic, cliched pulp fiction known to man. The books they are crazy about are the cheapest crime, haters-to-lovers, or harlequins, written by authors who produce 10-12 books per year. In recent years publishers started to reprint amateur writing from ao3 to keep up with the demand. And the books are awful too. The lack of any valuable content is made up by flashy soft covers. Some of the booktokers brag about their reading backlog which can be measured in feet, because they literally have a stack of unread books.
I might make a post about the booktok/booktwitter of my native language and how funny it is for me to read the passages they share.
