Eh, it's not talked about nearly enough, but China's ahead of Russia in the current space race. They are however way behind the US (Read: SpaceX) specifically in reusables. They also have like 10 different companies trying to duke it out for the CCP subsidies, leading to a good dozen+ state used launch systems, all disposable. It's gotta be expensive as hell for them to keep it up, they managed to launch a station with them, one about 1/4th(?) scale of the ISS - that required four different countries to build most of. China spent all that money themselves and built it in house. They also did the first automated sample return from the moon in decades, and have managed to land several automatic landers while everybody else is still screwing it up. They aren't out of the rocket race, not even close, but I'd imagine they have to pull money from a lot of important infrastructure work to even do what they're doing, cause they aren't getting much funding for it outside of their own country. It's wild and I don't know how long they'll be able to keep it up.

Edit: Don't forget that they use super toxic fuels most countries stopped using over a decade ago, and keep launching inland which leads to rockets still full of toxic fumes falling onto towns.
To add, this is a good idea of how much the US blows everybody else out of the water in mass launched into orbit, or simply in rocket testing.

You'll have to click the attachment because the image is being a bitch

SpaceX absolutely blows the rest of the world's rocket capability out of the water. And most of those little white sticks you see there, they're to scale with everything else in the image. Not so little. And most of them are able to land themselves and be refurbished. The big grey ships in the bottom left? Starship on the super heavy booster. Bigger than everything else, just a prototype.

If China and Russia actually joined hands in rocketry, they'd maybe be able to get almost as much up in a year as the US. But not even quite, and everything they've currently got is single use. All of the money in manufacturing burned with every launch.

Were packed lunches flat out banned or was it specific food items? What would they do if you brought one in?
Idunno about that but at my school so many kids started packing lunches that they started forcing kids who packed lunch to buy a lunch as well just so they could get the money, which in hindsight sounds very illegal and maybe something I should've brought up to my parents.

Packed lunches weren't banned but a lot of schools started getting pissy about them because they were losing money from kids not buying school lunches.

I wish we had something similar to Japan where they have actual nutritionists hired at the schools to make sure school lunches are good, and then they hire actual competent cooks to make them.

This is going to be the new RINO and liberal attack vector since the media is being ignored and destroyed by twitter, they are going to lean hard on appeal to religious authority, be willing to tell these priests to fuck off with their heresy.

It's also bordering on fetish how this fag has the most cringey progressive "religious" paintings in his room and screensaver. I used to not bother with what a person has at their wallpaper but it's becoming more and more a real insight into their mind. They're still going to rape and kill you when they jihad you, buddy.

Oh yeah, I am sure that the Electoral court literally blocking him from bringing up the fact that Lula was convicted of corruption, demanding that campaign material that repeated PTs own party plataform in public
Which is the right thing to do, since he was cleared of those convictions:
The ‘biggest judicial lie’ in Brazil’s history
Reuters
Oh no, the election was free and fair and absolutely clean!
That seems to be the case, yes.

Remember 2018:
While sitting in jail, Lula still led Bolsonaro in the polls, with many harboring suspicions that his arrest was engineered to ensure a Bolsonaro victory.

Little throwback bonus chuckle from reuters:
However, there were signs that Lula's messaging on the pandemic had rattled Bolsonaro. Within hours of Lula's criticism, Bolsonaro and his aides appeared masked at an official event in Brasilia — a rare sighting for the president, who has shunned masks, played down the gravity of the virus and said he would refuse a vaccine.
Imagine letting a commie tell you to wear the "muzzle".

But enough of that, more on those manufactured allegations:
Today’s articles show, among other things, that the Car Wash prosecutors spoke openly of their desire to prevent the PT from winning the election and took steps to carry out that agenda, and that Moro secretly and unethically collaborated with the Car Wash prosecutors to help design the case against Lula despite serious internal doubts about the evidence supporting the accusations, only for him to then pretend to be its neutral adjudicator.

Hm, preventing your wildly popular opponent from winning via kangaroo court?
Sounds eerily familiar doesn't it?
Lula — who was twice elected president by large margins in 2002 and in 2006 before being term-limited out of office in 2010 with an 87 percent approval rating
Numbers the likes of which Biden and Trump can only ever dream of.
Truly an unpopular fringe candidate that Lula guy. NO chance without foul play, truly.

Basically, the case revolved around Lula having been gifted a triplex as a kickback, too bad that he never owned that thing:
lula family never owned triplex

This may look like lawyering the truth for Lula, but keep in mind that the Bolsonaro goons, which prosecuted him, already doubted the evidence themselves, while pressing their investigators to make a case regardless, as was leaked way back. - and they also stated that they wanted him gone for the 2018 elections, ideally (sauces above)

Just posting for truth. Don't really care about brazilian politics, but blatant propaganda regurgitation irks me. Just trying to keep it high quality here.

His confirmation hearings start on the 29th.

The confirmation hearing for RFK is going to be a serious make or break moment for Trump.

Smartly, its been pushed back a bit to give Trump time to build momentum and he's been taking advantage of the time to gather strength. As I said in my earlier post, Trump is well aware of the strength of 'soft' power you accrue by being proactive and 'winning'. He's been laying the groundwork to seem potent, effective, and threatening so when it comes time to 'tard wrangle the party he's got the juice for it. We saw how Hegseth was a tough fight prior to this groundwork, but became part of it by using Vance to buck break Congress right to their face. They've already failed once, and Trump has been winning ever since. That has to be demoralizing.

Its important, too, because getting RFK to cross the aisle was a massive coup. Trump has to deliver what he promised, otherwise he's going to look weak. Right now he can't afford a single misstep.

That was a thing?
it was when and where i went to high school. every other Friday they would have a Pizza Hut option in addition to the normal food option. you had to pay an extra $2.00 for the Pizza Hut meal but it was worth it

unlike the pizza that the cafeteria made, for Pizza Hut days the girls would pat down the pizza with napkins to get rid of the extra grease before eating it. lol. women

Some thoughts from economist John Cochrane and Bernstein Research re: deepseek

It will be tempting among commentators to add up this loss of stock market “wealth” and say it’s a terrible thing. But no. The winners will not be the producers of AI, which looks to become a marginal cost commodity with remarkable speed, but the users of AI. And the benefit will be on quantities, not on monopoly or fixed-cost rents. (I say this because the stocks of companies that can potentially use cheap AI did not jump up. Maybe they will, once more people figure out how to use cheap AI to make profits for a while. Maybe those companies haven’t been founded yet. That is now the Wild West.) The stock market measures the present value of profits, not the present value of social benefits. The profit, and ultimate benefit, of railroads was not so much in the railroad itself, but in the wheat fields of Kansas.

So many schools are so fucking Draconian. PL but at least at mine we had "open lunches" where you could leave school grounds for lunch. It was partly because the cafeteria wasn't large enough to support the number of students they had so they wanted to incentivize kids to go home for lunch or eat out or just not use the cafeteria. I packed lunch but often ate outside and it was much nicer. What sort of crazies were going after kids for not eating the right stuff if they brought it in themselves? I fucking hate schools man.

Yeah that’s gonna cause some chaos.
It’s going to be chaotic for a while. Not sure how long, but it will take a few months to start seeing changes in the job market, housing market, grocery prices, etc. as the new policy is just getting started. Honestly, once the drilling stateside happens on a large scale is when we’ll see decreases in food prices, as higher gas prices translate to higher food prices (you’re not only paying for the product, but for the product to get from its source to the grocery store via trucking). The illegals being forced out en masse will likely lower the housing prices and the used car market. Of course, Democrats are seeing grocery and gas prices not being immediately lowered under Trump as a “win,” but these are the same people that think Obama was responsible for the economic prosperity under Trump in his first term, so they aren’t what I’d call intellectual heavyweights.

Slight correction, it was Big Mike who made Childhood Obesity a pet project. Back in 2014 there was a semi-viral hashtag on Twitter of people my age showing off Obama lunches. Here's a select few:

The most accurate ones to my experience are #1 (Brown Mystery Slop was common) and #3 (The saddest Burger/Chicken Sandwich ever, completely stale and dry.)
Don't forget that you still had to pay for these. I never had lunch after Elementary School, I either packed or would take someone else's forced Apple that they didn't want to eat.
Those pictures are horrifying. I heard the lunches were bad, but I didn't realize Gen Z was put on a starvation diet.

Any lead on the mystery of the slop? Is it vegan?

I'm glad I went to high school when we were still allowed vending machines and the school run fast food. Admittedly, our actual lunches weren't bad as they actually cooked on premise. Just like, normal food?

I still kind of miss a few of the meals.

In relation to this, he better have backup plans for if it does fail. He cannot allow a failure to stay one.

So serious question guys, what would Trump need to do to replace Income Tax? Tariffs are obviously one answer but what else would be needed to make up the 50 percent of federal income that is Income Tax?
There's a proposal called FairTax that's been around for 20 years to replace personal income tax with sales tax. There are some shitty things about it, in particular a monthly stipend to make the tax "fair" to poor people which would enlarge the welfare state and vastly increases the implementation cost.

In reality though, there's no need to make the tax burden "fair", because the welfare funded by taxes isn't "fair" either. Just keep existing need-based programs around for now.

That sounds like something that should absolutely not be done, Fairtax is just trading a demon for a monster. The real way is to keep stripping out the costs the federal governments slapped onto itself over the last century until it can actually stand up on it's own without drowning the people in debt.
