General Wrestling Discussion

Genuinely surprised that McDonagh didn't break his neck hitting the back of his head on that table. Finishing the match after that was extremely impressive and makes me rate JD a little higher.

I think the Rumble comes down to Punk,Cena,Reigns,Mcintyre, and Rollins as the final 5, and Cody gets challenged by whoever comes out of that. with the chamber being for the number one contendership to Goonthers title
Depends. I could see Cena going after Cody or Gunther. But I can’t really see Punk going after Gunther.

Remember, Punk doesn’t need to win in the Mania main event, he just wants to be in it.

heard people theorizing that if Roman wins the rumble, Punk could call in the favor to make it a Triple Threat making the main event Punk vs Reigns vs Cody, honestly that would be the most interesting build for a Triple Threat main event, im not usually a fan of Triple Threats in the Mania main event (I'd rather Cody face someone one-on-one), but id be good with it for the "WHOSE SIDE IS HEYMAN ON NIGGERMAN !?" type shit
The Pre-Order bonus for WWE 2K25 is a Wyatt Sick DLC pack, and a Deadman Edition for the game will also be a thing:

I think covers arent as big of a deal as they used to be in the age of digital vidya, would be cool if there were toggable themes on steam for it or something though

A video about chavo pissing and bitching made me think of something today. Is it just me, or did WWE milk Eddie dying for all its worth through Rey Mysterio?
Like, for like a year long span, it seemed like everything Rey did was 'for eddie'. He always came out with the EG band for even longer than that, and I recall some games even having the band. Hell he literally won the World Heavyweight championship off of it. It solidified him as a main event guy for years.
Despite this, I'm still a big fan of Rey, I just feel the way WWE dragged this on for ages was tasteless. Maybe im crazy idk.

I think it's more likely than not that they decided it would be easy to milk Eddy's death for all it was worth and that is why they put Rey in the spot to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Lazy and grimy behavior. I think it's tough to argue it's not the case when you just look at the timeline of main eventer deaths and compare it to royal rumble winners.

Imagine the booking they'd do if The Rock or Roman were to die this year.

I wouldn’t mind that actually. But I feel Cody vs Roman 3 should be at SummerSlam with no 3rd person tbh.
Penta should feud with the LWO.
Sure. Only if he absolutely squashes all of them and then squashes Rey at mania.

I've always wondered something, Hulkamniacs. Did Taker start doing the Big Boot/Leg Drop combo as a fuck you to the Hulkster? I know it's not a particularly unique series of moves, but he did have heat with Hulk over Survivor Series 91 and they didn't exactly seem to get on too well during Hogan's return run either. And wrestling is the sorta place where petty shit like that is commonplace.

Kinda like when Shawn went way overboard for Hogan in 05 and hid behind "what? That's how I was in the 90s. That's what you wanted, right?" all because Shawn knew he wasn't getting that runback.

I guess what I'm getting at in a roundabout way is that Hogan is so untouchable, generally speaking, that even top guys like Taker and Shawn have to find petty ways to get one over on him.

Some guys just can't handle being known only within the pro wrestling bubble. Hogan tho, is known worldwide, he will always = pro wrestling and that will always make guys like Punk, Cornette and a million other workers from the 80s onwards to get all worked up about him.

It's a shame he may not be appreciated again until he passes away. It seemed the anti Hogan audiences were mostly gone these last couple of years, Hogan was getting good reactions until the whole election, it's true he doesn't make the best decisions for himself but he's the last and most important part left standing from a golden age. Savage and Dusty weren't saints either, least these sensitive pricks can do is leave their non important politics views aside for 3 hours only, enjoy the guy while he's here.

I think it's hard to sell a baby boomer in wrestling today to the modern audience.

The average age of a wrestling fan is 30 years old (per google). The Monday Night Wars were starting in 95 and ended in early 2001. So like the average fan was six years old the last time that Hulk Hogan was really the center of the wrestling world and headlining pay per views.

Wrestling wise, the average fan knows Hulk Hogan more for his TNA run than anything else and lord knows that was God awful. To me, it's like trying to sell a music tour to 20 year olds with Mötley Crüe attached to it. It's just not going to work.

I think part of it, too, is that Hogan (the imposter hired by that slanderous troll Ted Dibiase) is a compulsive liar. The recent interviews he did for documentaries where he told easily refutable lies didn't help his case

Toni Storm's promo was amazing, but of course it was wasted because of when it was done lol. Should've done it this Wednesday and just done throwaway shit when programmed against a WWE live event
