I highly doubt so. It's hard atp to make a non-cliche/tropey Mascot Horror game. It's all the same shtick but in different flavors. Can't wait for it to get its own fanbase of rabid tumblrites like with The Walten Files.
Too lazy to watch the video rn but I'll probably see in the future if this so-called "answer" to ""Mascot Horror Burnout"" actually upholds such standards.
Can't wait for it to get bombarded with loads of suuuper creeepppyyy lore and 2deep4me explanations and absolute reaches.
As usual,
Bring back real ARGs.

I haven't watched it, because the monkey stuff makes me angry, but it's interesting seeing wowman post this.
1. It had a different thumbnail and title before. I saw it before he changed it, and it was something like, "YOUTUBE'S MONKEY GORE PROBLEM" with a red and black baby macaque in the center.

I saw the Nightmind video and while I do admit Giggleland is impressive since the people behind it did put a lot of effort into it, Nightmind keeps painting it as this subversive death knell to mascot horror when it is just trying to be its own thing.
Hell he acts like the ARG is going to be more important than the complete video game, which I don't know the intent of the creators but I'm sure a full on video game is going to be more important than the ARG clearly made to promote it.
It really feels like Nightmind is trying to look for the most avant garde horror series on the internet to feel more smart and sophisticated than everyone else especially because he still does the whole authority figure act that makes him pretentious.

The thing is, this is way more of an ARG than most, yet it feels inexplicably at odds with itself.
The “glitchy cat mascot horror” of the actual product being advertised and the “fairly played straight story about an escape from a commune” do not feel like they match up at all. NM tried to explain it by saying “oh this is intentional and it’s someone sabotaging the game in-universe” yet to me it doesn’t make any sense as it basically implies somebody is literally making an entire mascot horror game so Internet detectives will accidentally stumble upon it and help them track down the escaped woman and child unwittingly?
While there is some genuine effort in the ARG it feels like they aren’t going to be able to bring it together at the end of it.

I feel more likely is that the ARG is just a marketing ploy like how Cloverfield also had an ARG that was largely disconnected to the movie.
This game wouldn't be any different, but the effort is still commendable.

Sounds like the game will be like another Indigo Park. You'll hear a lot about it before the release. Then, when the game does come out the art style sucks and nobody cares. He's hoping for another Pony Island, good luck with that.

Those youtubers are smaller because they aren't pandering to the softcore tumblrites types by covering AH slop. That is the sad game of youtube. Quality content creators gets buried because they can never achieve wide appeal.

A lot of the zoomer creators aren't as good either - still too many of these types who think like BreadTubers coming from Reddit. Really feels like Wendigoon is like the last of the ones who just wants to tell you a good story and teach you something cool.

Yeah its honestly annoying how he likes to keep showing off his fursona to be quirky when it doesn't really change much about his presentation.
Unless Nightmind suddenly has been acting like Jimmy Kimmel who constanty reminds us "Orange man bad" this is a nothing burger, calm your tits, retard
He's like this with almost all horror media. That's also why he rarely talks about the super popular stuff unless its like overwhelmingly popular (like Mandela Catalogue) or piques his interest (Monument Mythos), he just acts like he's above it all and some true pioneer who's a genius. Hell his over-analysis is something basic that was already pointed out within the series like "Youtube forces you to make content catered to algorithms" for his analysis of Alex Bale's ARG after analyzing his entire portfolio while acting like its a big surprise.
Nightmind is extremely pretentious who I think doesn't really care about these projects, but rather wants the people who make them and his audience to worship him as an authority on horror.
To be fair to Nightmind, he doesn't really cover horror games that often, mostly ARGs and obscure webseries, occasionally he'd play a game if it has relevance to ARGs. Otherwise he wouldn't bother because if he did analyze horror games, he'd probably get more viewers as the last video where he surpassed 500,000 views and got into 1 million views territory was him discussing a horror game.
Honestly a lot of younger creators are more tolerable than Nightmind, since at least they aren't as pretentious as him which makes him more grating. That's also part of why Wendigoon is still good since he still is pretty humble and isn't up his own ass wanting everyone to worship him like NM.

That Shipwreck 64 video blew up because the game was insanely popular at the time and everyone was making videos on it. If he is just doing random itch.io horror games regularly like MBH, NightMind would get even less viewers than usual.
Wendigoon has his moments. Being friends with "future Steven Spielbergs" MC's Alex and up and coming director Kane (whom Wendi never fails to slobber the knobs of) along with having a role in the stalker movie absolutely gave him an ego. It was most apparent with his Best and Worst of Analog Horror video where he tried to throw his weight around to add to the spook hate train, but he seemed to have mellowed out now.
