I have really a good friend who is a straight cis woman (and white, which is possibly relevant). She loves to be around and support trans people and I think it comes from a good place. She told me about a cool boxing class she went to and said that everyone there was trans and she loved it. I looked into it and it looks like it’s a boxing club for trans people.
I asked if she knew that it was for trans people and she said yes. She added that she felt so welcome and comfortable because the rest of the gym was intimidating dudes and she wouldn’t have gone otherwise. I asked if she told them she was cis and she said no.
I feel kind of weird about it. I’m glad she had a good experience, but what if others were coming to this class because they specifically wanted to participate with other trans people? The vibe according to her was very inclusive and welcoming, and maybe the class would be totally cool with it, but I feel like maybe she should have asked them first if it’s okay.
I also don’t want to sound exclusionary on behalf of a class I’ve never been to, but for reference, the website says the boxing club was founded “to encourage the participation of trans and gender variant people” and is for anyone who wants to be “free from the limitations imposed upon them based on gender identity or expression.” She doesn’t identify as gender nonconforming whatsoever. I’m wondering whether or not I would be justified in telling her that it makes me uncomfortable.

ETA: I don't plan on "outing" her (I don't think it's that serious), just curious if I was right to feel weird about it. To be clear, I don't think she should be excluded and I think it's cool she's doing it, I would just rather she be open about being cis rather than intentionally hiding it in a space marketed toward trans people. (For the record, she considers herself very comfortable being cis.) Ultimately it's her call; we're close friends who are really open with each other, otherwise I wouldn't think to mention anything.
Forgot to mention, there are also limited spots in the class.

I'm not going to search back through this thread, but someone posted a link to a Scientific American article about The Forgotten History of the World's First Trans Clinic. There was a link to another opinion piece called The Search for a 'Cause' of Transness is Misguided. Imagine someone who calls themselves a scientist arguing that human beings shouldn't try to understand a natural phenomenon. Imagine a doctor saying that 'The search for a 'cause' of diabetes is misguided'. 'Don't look behind the curtain' is a religious attitude, not a scientific one.

I know it's a win but I'm horrified. It took a second term of Trump to end this terrible shit. People worked tirelessly behind the scenes to stop this horror but dems couldn't be arsed to save their nation's vulnerable children from the transgender cult. I'm glad that the WPATH monsters were called out and I can't wait to see the flood of lawsuits that will hit the child mutilators.

But it took way, way to long to end this. Thousands of destroyed lives and bodies! This will probably be remembered as one of the darkest chapters in history.

I'm not getting my hopes up too high just yet, since executive orders are extremely easy to revoke or strike down. There is still definitely a different energy than there has been in the past decade regarding troons. Plus it's very damning that while federal judges and courts are immediately blocking or challenging other EOs, yet I've seen next to no similar legal challenge from any of the tranny related ones. I do think that a major backlash was going to happen regardless. Even Biden's administration was starting to frown upon minors getting medical transitioning last year. So... appearently, my life is a ruin.

I was born male, in Hungary, where transgender people isn't treated too well. To say it right, the government banned every legal action, so even if I go under SRS, I can't have a female name (the are no unisex names), or "Female" in my ID.

edit: I wanna clarify that I didn’t think she was malicious at all, just presumptuous. I should have written the title like “woman went out of her way to *GENDER me … to her dog.” The misgendering was incidental.
