I got Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate for christmas from one of my friends and have been playing it ever since.
Since around the start of the year i've accumulated tens of hours in it.
I did play it when it was released back then and remember liking it quite a bit, but now I think I can appreciated it a bit more.
For one I think it got an absolutely killer soundtrack with good remixes of old songs, currently been listening to this one.
I'm just a sucker for these epic choirs, especially one minute in is my favourite part.
And since I got the Ultimate edition I get all sorts of costumes for all the characters, some are way better than the default costumes whilst others are just completely silly or awful looking.
What I appreciate most about the game is that it was actually decently difficult for a bit, I always play on hard at minimum and the first few missions I actually failed a few times.
I had to learn to actually clear out enemies as I race from ally to ally to save them, had to learn in what order to go to which part of the enemy and stuff, I just found that pretty enjoyable.
Now that I am at Chapter 4 though I have about 7 characters I regularly use and have thus figured out what their best attributes for weapons are.
My team is silly strong if I want it to be. If I want to absolutely obliterate all semblance of challenge I just pick-
Ma Chao - He has a very fun and versatile moveset and his Musou attack does cracked damage, he is also Speed type meaning he can easily keep the pressure on.
Gyuki- This big piece of shit of a pigman is very deceptive, even with 10 Agility you won't be able to do shit with him, he'll be torn apart on Chaos by arrows and basic mooks. What you wanna do with him is jump in the Air and throw his club, then on the way down you stomp the fuckers below.
All he needs is Osmosis and you can repeat this ad infinitum even against bosses.
Ginchiyo Tachibana - She has a very fast and strong moveset without any nonsense, ideal for taking out officers. Her ground special attack clears out rooms for little musou and her true musou does and absolutely disgusting amount of damage in a wide area. She is an absolute beast.
Other characters I like to use are Goemon, Ranmaru Mori, Cai Wenji, Zhang Liao, Guan Ping and Kaguya.
One big downside is that every single character starts out at level 1 with a level 1 weapon, meaning you have to invest quite a bit if you want to use them in a current level.
And you never stop getting new characters, even in Chapter 4...so unless you got the spare growth points and money you're not really gonna play around with your new guys since grinding them by actually playing as them is far too slow...
So what ended up happening with me is that I just used my core team to grind growth points to pump up a new guy I wanted to use...this just meant that my core team got stronger and stronger with yet better weapons and- yeah you can probably see the issue.
If you have been itching for a good Musou game, Orochi 3 Ultimate is one of the best of all of them easily, i've been playing the series since DW2.
