It's been stated and practically confirmed that Nina is only married to Greta to stay in the country (they didn't get her green card so it dosent really help).

It's also been stated way back by someone who knew them irl that Nina likes to sleep around so I don't see it as an impossibility.

It was planned to round up illegals with multiple criminal charges while Obama was still in office.

But who needs facts.

For the amount of time they spend shit posting on social media, they could have been far into the process of getting Nina's green card.

Just read a bunch of this thread (enough to be up to date anyway)

So what is the deal with Nina. She managed to avoid deportation for now, and she's claiming asylum, so what potentially happens next?

Also are they trying to run to California because they think they'll resist the taking down of sanctuary cities that Trump ordered?

Most likely there will be a series of hearings on Nina's asylum claim. This would generally take a long period of time. It could take even longer as more people than ever will be trying to go that route. Or Trump may throw money at the problem in an effort to expedite deportation proceedings against illegal immigrants.

Despite already being in a sanctuary city, Nina and Greta are somehow convinced that California will offer Nina more protection and that Trump won't simply increase federal resources there in order to offset the lack of co-operation from local and state agencies.
