Reminder that this is the guy who made up bullshit about where the word ‘Gerrymandering’ came from.
you notice how he only replies to some posts, because it's obvious he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

the civil war started in 1861. the emancipation proclamation wasn't issued until 1863, and it explicitly didn't touch slavery in the border states.

if he understood the timeline and background of the war there's no way he would be arguing about this shit.
Abraham Lincoln said:
Executive Mansion,
Washington, August 22, 1862.

Hon. Horace Greeley:
Dear Sir.

I have just read yours of the 19th. addressed to myself through the New-York Tribune. If there be in it any statements, or assumptions of fact, which I may know to be erroneous, I do not, now and here, controvert them. If there be in it any inferences which I may believe to be falsely drawn, I do not now and here, argue against them. If there be perceptable in it an impatient and dictatorial tone, I waive it in deference to an old friend, whose heart I have always supposed to be right.

As to the policy I "seem to be pursuing" as you say, I have not meant to leave any one in doubt.

I would save the Union. I would save it the shortest way under the Constitution. The sooner the national authority can be restored; the nearer the Union will be "the Union as it was." If there be those who would not save the Union, unless they could at the same time save slavery, I do not agree with them. If there be those who would not save the Union unless they could at the same time destroy slavery, I do not agree with them. My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union. I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause, and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause. I shall try to correct errors when shown to be errors; and I shall adopt new views so fast as they shall appear to be true views.

I have here stated my purpose according to my view of official duty; and I intend no modification of my oft-expressed personal wish that all men every where could be free.

Yours,
A. Lincoln.
important parts bolded, italicized, or both.

it was always, ALWAYS about keeping the country united, and destroying the southern military and economy to free the slaves. to say anything less is to literally deny the words from lincoln's own letter. the survival of the union was the single most important thing to abraham lincoln, with no exception.

Your mouth writes an awful lot of checks and frankly I think my patience for you is becoming overdrawn.
Oh yeah, tough guy? Meet me at 4210 Wolfetown Rd, Cherokee, NC 28719 and we'll settle this mano a mano.

In more relevant news: "Trump blames DEI for weakening FAA in aftermath of Reagan National plane crash" (archive). Trump is wasting no time.
President Trump on Thursday appeared to blame diversity initiatives at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for weakening safety following a deadly midair collision near Reagan National Airport.

Trump spoke to the press from the White House briefing room about the incident, which he called “a tragedy of terrible proportions.” But his solemn tone quickly gave way to lambasting the Biden and Obama administrations, taking aim specifically at hiring initiatives.

“Brilliant people have to be in those positions,” Trump said.

He cited efforts by the FAA to hire individuals with disabilities, including dwarfism, missing limbs and intellectual disabilities.

“A group within the FAA determined that the workforce was too white, then they had concerted efforts to get the administration to change that and to change it immediately,” Trump said. “This was in the Obama administration.”

Trump also blasted Pete Buttigieg, who served as Transportation secretary during the Biden administration.

“He’s a disaster now. He’s just got a good line of bulls‑‑‑,” Trump said of Buttigieg. “Well he runs it, 45,000 people, and he’s run it right into the ground with his diversity.”

In a post on social platform X, Buttigieg called Trump’s comments “despicable.”

“As families grieve, Trump should be leading, not lying. We put safety first, drove down close calls, grew Air Traffic Control, and had zero commercial airline crash fatalities out of millions of flights on our watch,” Buttigieg posted. “Time for the President to show actual leadership and explain what he will do to prevent this from happening again.”

Trump was asked how he could be so sure diversity played a role in the crash when he acknowledged himself the air traffic controllers may not have done anything wrong, he told reporters it was because he has “common sense.”

Trump in his first two weeks in office has rapidly sought to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs in the government. Trump moved to place all federal employees working on such programs on administrative leave and encourage the private sector to also end DEI initiatives.

About 60 people were believed to be on the American Airlines flight that collided with a UH-60 Blackhawk on its final approach to Ronald Reagan National Airport in Alexandria, Va., on Wednesday night.

Other Trump administration officials echoed the president’s rhetoric about diversity efforts playing a role in weakening government agencies.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon would be “color-blind” moving forward. Vice President JD Vance suggested that changing hiring standards means “you don’t have the best people.”

Kash Patel was a public defender in fucking Miami for a decade before joining the Trump train. If you still tolerate the american people after a decade of defending florida man, you clearly must love america. Null spent twice as long dealing with florida man and fucking hates the US.
u gotta give him credit for this folks. Indian or not he served the people

Breaking: Tulsi does NOT want to pardon Edward Snowden
It's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. I think Snowden should be pardoned but you can't exactly say as the National Intelligence nominee "I will pardon the guy who leaked our secrets" because you won't ever get the job and because it might trigger someone else to do it for what they think it's the right reason. Maybe someone will leak secrets because they think they'll topple le ebil Nazi Drumpf Empire.

Trump should totally pardon him though AND Assange though.

I love how CashApp Patel answered the libs questions very similarly to how he answered the republicans questions, but only the libs sperged out about him not answering.
He literally answered the questions professionally and thoroughly and they accused him of not answering it because he wouldn't answer how they wanted him to lol
Infuriating. Connecticut and Hawaii senators are disgusting pieces of shit.

How the fuck is that selfish? Look at the misery in her face here

She did not want to be there. This is a woman who felt like she was forced into getting married because war hero yadda yadda social pressure bullshit.

The poor guy looked worse than Darth Vader and needed a full time carer, not a wife. He should have called the wedding off.
It angers me that the government didn't pay for reconstructive plastic surgery or anything for that poor guy

He would have been the perfect candidate for face transplant surgery, the first of which ocured only a few years or so after his death.

update from the street and the skeevy side of conservatism
grubby gas station next to my job still has that Trump weed pipe, but despite it not moving the shopkeeper has decided to get in a couple of MAGA hats and a FIGHT hat in the last week or so since the inauguration

Man. All the people watching RFK Jr. get yelled at while I'm stuck in a professional snakeloop. All it's been is:

"Thank you for your service."
"Do you think Edward Snowden is a traitor, yes or no?"
"If you want to uphold the constitution so much, why will you not condemn Edward Snowden, who did not uphold the constitution?"
"If you value upholding the constitution so much, why do you treat Edward Snowden like a folk hero?"
"Pleath tell uth if you'd freeth the fundth of your department illegally if Prethident Trump told you to do it." (??????)

And the answer has more or less always been: "None of these questions feel relevant to my upcoming job except for the ones asked by non-retards, so I'll repeat myself again. I will put my politics and own opinions aside to run a neutral and professional ship. Stop trying to catch me in a trap, it won't work, and your lisp is extremely gay, Senator Wyden."

...I made that last part up, but the rest of it holds. I missed a fat black lady getting mad, one of the funniest things I can think of right now!

they're very afraid of retaliation for january 6th, because if they were the ones in power now, they would retaliate against people like themselves for a january 6th-type incident.

Stop trying to catch me in a trap, it won't work, and your lisp is extremely gay, Senator Wyden."
if she said this i might have to jump on the tulsi train the way other people do, instead of just hoping she does a good job.

I've never thought about this, but can POTUS pardon non-citizens for federal crimes?
the way the power in article II is worded says that "He shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment."

seems to say to me, as a layman, that he can forgive anyone of federal crimes.
