Minor bit of trivia: as a Desi person born to parents who emigrated here during the Reagan administration, I really wanted to get into IT/compsci stuff when I was a kid. I became bitterly disillusioned when I realised my American labour would be outsourced to H1B migrants and call centres in India and Bangladesh when I was a freshman in community college.

Bernie has the same problem that most politicians have: he doesn’t actually have any principles. He didn’t do much of anything for his tenure and never held an actual job.

He was an activist in the 60 and 70’s (the easiest time to be an activist) and had that carry him his entire career rather than actually doing anything. He’d vote no when he was allowed to vote no, otherwise he toed the party line.
