Actually the pilots were white, so they are at least right for once. Don't believe me, take a look at this:

Tell your friends and family you love em. I was friends with one of the flight attendants who was working this flight, his name hilariously and now sadly was Ian Epstein and he was very warm friendly person. His terrible wife divorced him a couple of years ago and he just started dating a very lovely person and was finally happy the last time we spoke
This was real and confirmed. Rest in peace Ian Epstein.

It's not fucking McDonalds, you can't have a new person in a seat in the tower at DCA in a week, heck probably not even a year.
Its been short staffed since covid when they retired and fired a bunch of controllers. Every airport in the country is very short staffed in terms of controllers it's a shit and stressful job no one really wants to do and you can't just make that happen. 1 week didn't do shit, complete lunacy.

A collision like this has been overdue for years some airports have less than half the staff they need and controllers as a result are tired and over worked when they already had one of the most stressful jobs in the country.

... so nothing of value was lost?
The skaters lost represent a skill and devotion to excellence with a dedication beyond you, or what you or most people will ever achieve. In your dreams (and mine) do we come close to these people in dedication and skill. World Champs out of billions - something of value was indeed lost.

Back to your NFL.

I wanted to apply to be one when I was looking to change careers but you also can't start if you're over 30 because you have mandatory retirement at 55 and they don't want to have anyone working less than the full 25 years.

I've heard that there are a lot of private contractors popping up now. Not sure if they have the same requirements.

I guess this incident proves why if it turns out it is all because the controller didn't specify that the plane he needed to avoid was to the left of the chopper pilot and not the one he was looking at straight ahead.

Very tasteless and disgusting of the news to be interviewing friends and family of the victims, including children. Sickening. Exploiting tragedies and grief for money and sensationalism is routine for journoscum.

You know what else, in regards to all of the press conferences, most of the bodies have still not been recovered. The families don't need to hear your patronizing bullshit about how great your community or city is or about how amazing Governor Puppet (D/R) is or your prepared statements about grief counseling, just get their deceased relatives out of the fucking water and explain the facts or shut the fuck up. I'm not sure they've even given an ETA on when that will be finished and the local Fox 5 news is still saying "feared deceased". Stop giving them false hope and making them think there's any kind of chance that there are survivors, they already know they're gone so just call it like it is and say they are dead.

More on that understaffing:

Staffing at the air traffic control tower at Ronald Reagan National Airport was “not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic,” according to an internal preliminary Federal Aviation Administration safety report about the collision that was reviewed by The New York Times.

The controller who was handling helicopters in the airport’s vicinity Wednesday night was also instructing planes that were landing and departing from its runways. Those jobs typically are assigned to two controllers, rather than one.

This increases the workload for the air traffic controller and can complicate the job. One reason is that the controllers can use different radio frequencies to communicate with pilots flying planes and pilots flying helicopters. While the controller is communicating with pilots of the helicopter and the jet, the two sets of pilots may not be able to hear each other.

Like most of the country’s air traffic control facilities, the tower at Reagan airport has been understaffed for years. The tower there was nearly a third below targeted staff levels, with 19 fully certified controllers as of September 2023, according to the most recent Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan, an annual report to Congress that contains target and actual staffing levels. The targets set by the F.A.A. and the controllers’ union call for 30.

The shortage — caused by years of employee turnover and tight budgets, among other factors — has forced many controllers to work up to six days a week and 10 hours a day.

The F.A.A. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hence such failings would be attributable to Biden's response to the SARS outbreak, especially when they just casually threw away thousands of skilled employees from the industry in which it takes years to get people as experienced as they were to replace their seats.

THis is what's bugging me about this. If you watch the video in the OP, you can see the plane and the small flashing lights of the chopper to the side or behind it. It almost looks like the chopper rammed the fucking plane. I can see a plane not seeing a chopper if we disregard TCAS. But I can't see a fucking chopper coming in from that angle and not seeing the plane.
Probably some chairforce tranny 41%'ing.
