This has been a disaster a decade, and more, in the making.

BioWare destroyed both their most popular IPs with boneheaded decisions, and as talent began to bleed out the cracks in their foundation (BioWare "magic") began to become more and more apparent..

It doesn't help that on top of all this they did everything in their power to antagonize, alienate and insult the main cRPG demographic to pander to the insignificant minority of women and fags that bother with cRPGs.

BioWare should have been shut down 10 years ago, and likely would have if the people in charge of EA didn't share their retarded leftist politics.

Can you imagine even being a dev working on ME5? Imagine the pressure, and the risk of closure hanging over your head. The fact you have far less resources than you would have had just a decade previously. The fact that the entire studio is hanging on you pulling a rabbit out of a hat when you know, and everyone around you knows even in the best case scenario it’s not going to be anything like that.

The entire work environment would be beyond “toxic” it would be like working an axe over your head.

You can’t make a good product under those conditions. You’re going to make mistakes, you’re going to be conservative when you shouldn’t be, you’re going to stutter out.

(Not even imagining the booze and hard drugs to deal with the stress).

It’s honestly just a mercy both to Mass Effect and BioWare to be put down now.

I don’t even think that factors into it. You say it’s a religion but you don’t know what that means. It’s automatic and instinctual to prioritize gays and troons-which is why their response to anti woke criticism is often bafflement as much as hostility.

Mass Effect unlike DA allows for far less troon/female self insertion. Even if you play a female shepherd-you’re a military officer that shoots most people you meet. It’s been called “fashy” in the past for that reason.

So I think they’ll run into a problem, they don’t actually like the sort of genre Mass Effect is built around.

Any attempts at continuing Mass Effect have to deal with the fact that the story for the third entry sucked ass through a straw. Andromeda could sidestep this by taking place in another galaxy but trying to do it on Earth again, you're just walking into failure even if you just do a small time, mostly inconsequential campaign ala Dragon Age II.

What is the story?

The reapers were the central antagonists that drove the entire plot.

Without them you have no coherent space opera high stakes story.

That’s one of the things I actually liked about ME3’s ending-the reapers are dealt with in a clean and definitive fashion. If they bring the reapers back, the game will be an automatic failure as everyone will rightfully complain it undercuts the trilogy.
