Supporting Trump in 2016 was a real fucking gamble. The most likely outcome was the one where you'd get fucked, by society and probably by the authorities too, for being MAGA. That's why I find it hard to respect people who didn't speak up, back then, and chose to play it safe instead.
My heart goes out to you, OGs.
Wasn't exactly safe in 2024 either, Corey Comperatore and David Dutch and James Copenhaver for instance.

kobebyarlant "After Romney lost I sorta gave up on politics ever resulting in anything good happening to the US again. I assumed Dems found the cheat code to win every future election indefinitely by always running the "first" whatever candidate. First black candidate, first woman candidate, etc and the Republicans would choose to "lose with dignity" each time."

Yep, McCain and Romney timeframe and aftermath, just a dozen years ago it seemed the GOP was screwed. The 'demographics is destinity' mantra that most red states, especially Texas would be hard blue by now was a real possibility. That's why I don't count the democrats out for the long term, they're a wreck now and probably can't recover by 2026, but after that who knows.

Any give a qrd on what Trump getting elected in 2016 felt like? (I wasn't that interested in politics back then) I heard the main difference between then and now is that it legit felt out of the blue. Like, no one expected Michigan and Pennsylvania to flip.
I was in the lounge on a college campus cackling with laughter watching 538 update and all the students around me wailing. It was a wonderful night.

looks like Megyn Kelly interviewed Rubio. Maybe, I'll go watch it. I dislike her, hopefully she isn't too insufferable.
The fucking tizy that every has over these things is so funny.
It is just art of the deal tactics as described in his own book.
He says "He wants to buy Greenland"
What in reality it means is get a better deal and more control over the waters. Throw out a threat, then seem to "back down" when doing the deal. And get what you really wanted in the first place.

It’s been said in this thread before, but DC has been eying Greenland for a very long time. The media has laughed it off as a joke but DC never did.

So, when could we expect the votes on RFK and Gabbard? Tried looking it up but couldn't find it, if there is a set date for the vote.

Speaking of him and Megyn Kelly, if you had told me 10 years ago Lil Rubio would be Secretary of State under a non-consecutive term Punished Trump presidency going absolutely scorched earth on Democrats and the federal bureaucracy I'd been... highly skeptical.

His win led to some of the worst seasons of South Park. But still, Matt and Trey's seethe was funny af. Even funnier than Daily Show retards' reaction.
The funniest part is that they said they wouldn't dwell on it and make fun of Drumpf if he won...and they seethed anyways and continued making fun of drumpf when he did. This is about when I stopped taking the show seriously, the latest seasons until that point sucked anyways so this was more of an excuse to drop it entirely than anything.
All those lifelong friends and family gone due to MSM gaslighting will always sting I know a lot of other people went through similar stuff. Having friends were all about lifted trucks, shooting guns and going off-roading go full retard over you liking a Trump post or something was a crazy time.
They weren't your friends. Thankfully I haven't had anyone like that, but then again, I follow the Metokur mindset of "not having any friends", not over the internet anyways. Any IRL friends are carefully picked for that reason, like someone else said I make sure to reveal my power level a little bit, use a few slurs here or there just to make sure that won't be a problem in the future before you go out and truly call them your friends.
Surreal. Like you just watched something impossible.
After Romney lost I sorta gave up on politics ever resulting in anything good happening to the US again. I assumed Dems found the cheat code to win every future election indefinitely by always running the "first" whatever candidate. First black candidate, first woman candidate, etc and the Republicans would choose to "lose with dignity" each time. More and more states would slowly turn blue in an unstoppable tide of "community organizing". And if that didn't work they could always find a trunk of ballots in whatever swing state they needed to flip that election. Instead I found myself eating in a Red Robin after a whole day of not watching to news on election night completely slack jawed as the TV showed Trump had won Michigan. Pennsylvania. Wisconsin. States that were supposed to be permanently blue were flipped by a reality TV star. Nothing would be the same in politics again.
This could still very well be the future of the Republican party. Don't forget, Trump is a glitch in the system, we live in interesting times and don't know if people like him will become the norm or if there won't be another Trump once his second term is up. Republicans being retards and cucking out to the dems IS the standard up until this point.
hurr durr dey will just pack provisions" Aint nobody cooking their medium rare beef or brewing up their favourite wine. They would fucking shoot themselves, if denied the pleasures they have now, for a tabula rasa world.
Oh, you would be surprised how easy(and cheap) it is to stockpile relatively high amounts of relatively good food and drinks, not to mention water once you know what you're doing. I won't power level here, but the point is it's trivial for an elite who has more money than anyone else will make in a lifetime if there are people on a blue collar budget who can do the same with a little bit of research. Good stuff that lasts a long time too, and if they're smart they will likely have some sort of farm or greenhouse which they can use to become self sufficient as well. Not every one of them is an ivory tower kind of person who wouldn't know the first thing about survival, take Bill Gates and his obsession with recycled poop water for instance.
My personal tinfoil schizo theory is that at least some of the prepper stuff on the market is a test to see how it would actually prosper in the SHTF scenario, ie how long it would last and if would even be viable to consume for a prolonged period of time. Even the off the grid people are beta-testing this stuff for when the theoretical day of the rope or societal collapse comes and the elites have to disappear, I bet there is an entire think tank and R&D department that we will never know about working for them on this specific issue. It's a largely badly kept secret that most VPN companies are just glowie shell corporations and probably collecting info on their users/making sure that they work with the feds on catching undesirables. Same logic applies here with collecting info on the same people who are doing the testing of their products as well as collecting statistics they need from the products they sell then as well, good example would be Alex Jones and the the "survivalist" shit he shills. It's no secret he's been a plant for years, if not decades by this point, but I won't get into the whole Bill Hick controversy/rabbit hole here and derail the thread even further.
Point I am trying to make is that you're vastly underestimating the people we are talking about here. Not everyone is a Washington/WEF stereotype, there is individual billionaires whose faces and names you will never know because they don't show up on search engines and even if they did, your average person would never think to google them anyways. People with that kind of sophistication/protection in this day and age when good chunk people, even the ones here, have profiles on them made by powers-that-be without them even knowing about it, would definitely know what they're doing if their actual lives and future depended on it.

I took a drunken nap while the election was going on because I was half sure Hillary was going to win and didn't want to be sober to see it happen.
Woke up to my spouse cheering that Trump won. Probably one of the more confusing situations I've ever woken up to.

I was still in university at the time. Had classes the day after; by stepping into a classroom, you could feel the dread. It was funny as hell. :story:

If we buy Greenland and there are jobs there I'd consider moving there, I hate the sun and the heat.
Actually never mind I never heard of the Midnight Sun and that sounds like hell to me as the sun is evil.
Greenland is a shithole. Imagine living on a giant, tree less, mostly icy rock, surrounded by 50.000 drunk eskimos.
