When he first moved his "antique" store online from his failed brick and mortar I made the mistake of messaging him a question about a rug he was selling. He dodged the question but started to message me almost every single day trying to get me to buy a rug from him. He was trying to play it off as funny but it was easy to see the desperation and eventually he gave up the act. He would send me pictures of the inside of my house that he probably found on Zillow, telling me which one of his rugs would look good in what room. "I'll make you a good deal bro these are hundred years old bro" and he sent me screenshots of auctions for similar looking rugs that sold for thousands but he was only asking a couple hundred for his. They might have looked similar but even to my untrained eye it was clear they were different. I used Google Lens and most of them were exact matches to Studio McGee Threshold, which is the shitty Target brand. I remember an Instagram post from a very reputable rug dealer absolutely shitting on him and calling him a scammer. You want to assume it's all a big joke since, well, it's Nick, but I do get the sense he's really ripping unknowing fans off. No wonder he and Sam are such close pals.
