He's actually based for this, not because tariffs are necessarily great, but because he's comparing them to income tax, which was what was used to supplement the lost revenue in 1913. The US should revert to the pre-1913 model. People will bring up the debt, but who cares? The debt is mathematically unpayable. You can cut spending while you're at it.

This whole tarriff debate seems to center on one thing, can the Trump administration actually bring back domestic manufacturing on a scale like it was in the early 20th century with this level of protectionism? the economy of the United States 100 years ago and now is much, MUCH different, back then heavy industry and agriculture took up a larger share, not to mention labor was cheaper.

If they pull somehow pull this off in under 4 years, that's good and would make the economy more self-sufficient, if they fuck-up even just once here, well, get your assholes ready because this is going to be painful for the lay person like us.
