Careercow Brandon "Bam" Margera - From Jackass to Lolcow

Knoxville doesn't seem to harbour any malice for Bam. Maybe he's just really good at hiding it, but on the other hand he doesn't really have to: Bam isn't especially liked and it wouldn't hurt Knoxville's image if he was harsher in public when talking about Bam, especially given all the shittalking Bam does. I think he genuinely pities Bam and mourns his friend, the same way you might pity and mourn your beloved elderly grandpa when advanced senility starts to make him incoherent and abusive.

I think it would be easier for Bam if Knoxville and the others DID treat him like a piece of shit. He could tell himself that they were always fake friends and leeches this whole time. It must hurt ten times worse to know his friends look at what he's made of his life and it makes them want to cry.

They have been there. I am sure Steve-O has give him a card and said "Call me when you want to get sober". I am sure they at one point tried to intervention him. I remember something about that being reported. But it did nothing.
There is only so much you can do, and he has his own career and family to think about. He wont disparage him in the media. He will just stop answering the calls and talking about Bam.
I believe Bam is too far gone.

I don't know if Bam is genuinely capably of feeling pain or remorse. He doesn't come across as a guy that actually cares about other human beings. What probably bothers him more about this is that his friends being upset about his state and wanting to help him is more a sign that he has zero justification to be the way he is. I've brought up before that addicts like Bam use other addicts around them like a coping mechanism. He is able to justify his issues by pointing to his friends and saying that they are the ones that have the real problems.

When people like Novak and Steve-O started cleaning up their lives, Bam could no longer just say "Oh, I am not as bad as they are" as a coping mechanism. It is why he hates Novak to this day for getting sober: Novak proved it could be done and Bam had no excuse for being the way he is.

His entire friend group feeling sympathy for him and being upset at the state of his life is just another blow to Bam's belief that his life is fine the way it is. He loses yet another way to justify his addiction inside his own head.

I wish he'd take his own advice and just shut the fuck up and skate. I get that he wasn't ever good enough for it to be his claim to fame and that's why he had to bank on attitude and spectacle, but he clearly cares about it and is knowledgeable about it. He's borderline likeable when he's talking about the thing he loves, instead of trying so hard to be loved.

He's permanently stunted as a teenager. Never had to work a day in his life and his parents managed everything and to this day never really suffered repercussions for being a drunk faggot.

The only thing he feels is jealousy and resentment for the much bigger addicts around him getting their shit together and finding fruitful existences.

I do think underneath all his stupid early 2000s facade, he looks in the mirror and cries every night what a fucking loser he is.
