What conspiracy theories do you believe in? - Put your tinfoil hats on

Even if these people aren't pedos (oh but they are) the way they speak is so unnatural and bizarre it puts your teeth on edge. Something is very wrong with them.
Not gonna argue the Wikileaks emails too hard, especially the one's provided, but I've always wondered why conspiracy theorists assume they're only talking about children. The Clinton's in particular have ties to drug trafficking. I've always thought that the $65,000 in hot dogs was actually cocaine or some designer drug.
They're still satanic pedophiles that get away with it through irony and absurdity, but I digress.
Having a YouTube streaming career (god help us) lowers your immune system. I don't know how or why but I swear youtubers are constantly flirting with death with how often they have conditions, sicknessness and deaths in their family.
Staying indoors is bad for your health in general. Moreover, Youtubers often don't have a "secure" support network through work or interpersonal relationships, so their mental health is dogshit. Imagine having to worry about your friend/coworker being a child molester or, God forbid, a racist transphobe nazi bigot (which of course the streamer doesn't care about, but their audience does!).
Also, I would not be surprised if more streamers live like Asmongold or Pippa and just have the common sense (or inauthenticity) to keep it hidden from the viewing public.

There's a high chance they were the ones behind that drug ring with that drop that got those two Arkansas boys killed since they saw something they weren't supposed to see. That case is still unsolved and it's pretty much an open secret who did it.

American archaeology is far more well-known than the public is let in on. There's not really even any special reason it's kept as secret as it is. The story is pretty much the same as anywhere else - civilizations rose, fell, were forgotten, and rose again. If anything, it's more a case of stovepiping by academics. They just don't publish outside of obscure niche academic journals that only offer copies in print.

I'm definitely siding with the fucking aliens because they at least have FTL.
In Star Trek and a number of other SF, the aliens can be more peaceful and enlightened than the Earthlings of the modern world.

In WH40K, going with the aliens is siding with xenos, which is HERESY of course.

Anyway, IRL, maybe even aliens lack FTL, as physics may limit the capabilities of technology to "the modern world". Which would also answer the Fermi paradox. So no aliens here because they are all, at most developed, "modern worlds" like this one... so they can't easily contact each other, except maybe by powerful directed radio signals and solar sail probes. Also, there could be relatively little technological civilizations out there. Like one in a billion or less star systems have "modern worlds" out there?

What are some lesser-known/not-widely-known things that you know?

What goes on is that for a lot of ancient stuff, very little evidence is found and then a story is made. There's some details and facts but the veracity of the story has a lot of guess work. It's likely when people moved here, lived there and so forth.

Then people take it and treat it as absolute fact. So then years later when people find evidence that people were there earlier, maybe different people. It's treated by the lay person as if history is being rewritten when it's just being added to. Often in part because what is known is communicated to the lay person as absolute fact. "This is when people first moved to Florida." Not that it's the earliest evidence and the Clovis people isn't changing absolute fact but just added knowledge.

Doesn't the Smithsonian have a lot of sketchy seeming stuff going on in the Grand Canyon or something? (Among other things)
Something is up with the Grand Canyon.
Here are some facts, I'm presenting them stand alone, not pushing any narrative, but maybe you guys can see the "something" too.

A map to get us started
grand-canyon-national-park-map.jpg
  • The Hopi emergence story is one where the Hopi survive the transition from the third world to the forth by hiding in/traveling through caves, eventually emerging from the lowest part of the Grand Canyon.
    • "Placing her Magic Twins beside her, Spider Woman called all the people to follow where she led. Through all the Four Great Caverns of the Underworld she led them until they finally came to an opening, a sipapu, which led above. This came out at the lowest depth of the Pisisbaiya (the Colorado River) and was the place where the people were to come to gather salt. "
  • The Hopi stories also talk about "The Ant People" who helped them survive the last two cataclysms and who live underground. The first world was destroyed by fire, the second by ice. The Zuni have similar stories about the same people.
    • If that bit about the cataclysms sounds familiar, it's because that's also the story the Aztecs have.
      • 1st sun - Humans eaten by jaguars
      • 2nd sun - Humans turn into monkeys and are blown away by a hurricane
      • 3rd sun - Rain of fire
      • 4th sun - Flood that covers the earth
      • WE ARE HERE --> 5th sun - Human sacrifices and the spilling of blood keep the natural order in line. If it stops or we piss off the gods for some other reason, the sun will go black, there will be an enormous earthquake, and we're all going to be eaten by not-quite-demons who look like skeletons.
    • The Hopi word for "ant" is "Anu" and the work for "friend" is "naki". "Anunaki" lol
  • The park rangers and tour companies don't like you calling the restricted areas "The Forbidden Zone" because it's too fantastical for their tastes, but it does exist and it's also extremely difficult to find a map of the off-limits areas.
    • Here's a map of where you can't fly
      Flight-Corridors-in-Grand-Canyon-National-Park.webp
  • If we overlay that old conspiracy-theory map of the US DUMB locations over a map of Grand Canyon National Park, and - just for fun - we pretend it's all real, then there should be a base up the canyon from the park itself.

    • While we're still pretending it's all real, would that not be a smart place to put one anyway? There are a lot of caves in the area, so if you found a big one that could be used for a base, then you'd save a ton of money that you wouldn't have to spend hollowing out a mountain to make room.
  • What we do know is real is that JFK built a bunker in the Grand Canyon.
  • We also know Arizona alone has at least 2,400 caves we know of for certain, and there are many more out there with no known entry point.

I know we mentioned climate change, anyone else feel like winter keeps starting later and later? When I was a kid, it used to snow in December, be shitty and icy in Jan/Feb, but spring would start in March. Now I feel like December's just cold, it really snows in January, and it stays icy and shitty until fucking May now.

Winter in the Northern Hemisphere is greatly impacted by the arctic sea and ice coverage.

Ice coverage reflects heat back into space. The ocean absorbs heat and radiates it back out into the atmosphere which moves downwards from the norther lattitudes.

Assuming lower ice coverage, there's more time for the ocean to be absorbing heat, the pole staying warmer for longer in early winter. Then at the maximum of the ice coverage at its coldest, that radiating heat from the thermal mass of the ocean pushes the cold air from the poles downwards where it meets moisture-rich air from the equator moving north and you got a shit tonne of rain and snow.

My basic understanding would track with later winters. No idea if I explained it clearly enough for someone that doesn't understand the fundamentals of what goes on.

Well, I'm assuming more benevolent ones than that. Obviously as a human you pretty much have to side with humankind in a universe where literally everyone is evil and edgy beyond belief.

w40k is the most testosterone fueled, ass-backwards, ass-mad, retarded scifi lore ever envisioned and I low key love it for it's astounding self awareness.
They just saw Heinlein and Herbert fumbling around and went all they way, I can respect that - in a way I respect verhoeven or junji ito for doing the same with their material.
I def always wanted to know more, but when I see the "hobby", I'm always kinda sobered again and lose interest, which is then peaked again by people constantly referencing it. Rinse and repeat. It's also crazy that w40k really seems to remain a boy's club thing, despite all the self-aware, hamfisted irony, when Junji Ito, despite the overt edginess, is basically a shojo author.
I guess verhoeven gender gaps it sometimes with movies like basic instinct.

Edit: LoL - I really went far on that little tangent there.

I don't think I fully believe in any conspiracy theory.

I am however open to the possibility that certain figures in Christianity (and other religions) were made martyrs in order to create social/political/religious change, without the help of "miraculous deeds" or the supernatural, but more as a premeditated course of human action in order to spread their message effectively.

Apologies as I have catching up to do here, but this popped up on Xitter via a space, so I archived all the Threadreader pages related:

tl;dr: Duke/Research Triangle Covid coverup & death of Blackhawk pilot [w/deeply connected pedigree] as shot over the bow of possible whistleblowers [see also Boeing for a recent example] -- tendrils extend to Israel via known Covid links and Milchan of 9/11 fame.

I am convinced tech/phone spying is way worse than people think.

I know it's not a groundbreaking conspiracy theory to think that we are being spied on by alphabet agencies. But I think even that's an optimistic take. People think you can avoid being spied on by private companies by just using an ad blocker, or maybe turning off a setting. Not the case at all.

No need for high-tech spy agencies. I am convinced your phone is 100% spying on you all the time, listening to all your conversations, for private companies too. Even when you are not on a call. And likely that selfie camera is not actually off even when you think it is.

I have heard way too many anecdotal stories, and I have experienced it myself firsthand, of people getting targeted ads for products and services they only mentioned while talking to a friend (not a phone call, normal face-to-face conversations), and they never used a search engine for it to be a coincidence. Point is, your entire phone is compromised. It's not just the government. Phone manufacturers and private companies casually do it too.

There's a reason Zuckerberg used tape to cover the web cameras of his laptops. He knows it's worse than we all think.

It was some time before even 2019 I remember having watched a video discussing how Google was possibly using microphone audio to adjust its advertisements in real time. Snowden's alarms and the PRISM program might not even compare to this type of shit - watchlists and other triggers excepted, there's probably heaps of bureaucratic bloat to overcome for a fed to seriously start observing any individual. But with how long third party detection has been in the works, God only knows how much more pervasive it's become since it was first being noticed.

(Relevant and borders more on being outlandish, but it's interesting that "Obama Prism" overwhelmingly just shows the literal Obama prism meme now instead of articles that elaborate on his expansion of the PRISM program, which wasn't always the case. This is easily rectified by typing "Obama prism program" instead, however)

Agree with the sentiment, the problem is the OTHER people's phones - if you just click agree on everything on a new google phone, you DO consent to the assistant pretty much recording and ad-sensing all the time. Since - even without jail breaking - you can block services from running until you basically brick your phone, it stands to reason that stuff which isn't running, really isn't doing anything, but yeah - I still assume that a "vanilla" phone mostly just larps as oblivious, if you disagree with and disable most things. On the other hand, they do certainly get audited and laweyered on that front in jurisdictions like the EU.
And my phone does NOT do these things you described when I'm one to one with some equally cautious people.
But again, it's no use if people around you have everything turned on anyway and sometimes, when I visit friends, I DO get targeted ads of things we talked about, on social media web apps - suddenly. So the recorded information at least seems to link from their phone via their account to my account. Makes it look like my phone isn't doing much on it's own, but also that it's ultimately a loosing fight anyway.

Conspiracy theory: Something* prevents Native Americans from the southwestern US from telling certain secrets.
I know they're hiding things, I know they don't want to share stuff with outsiders, but you'd think somewhere along the last couple hundred years there would be at least one guy either drunk enough, insane enough, or resentful enough to spill the beans.

*Could be as simple as "If this ever finds out, and we know who did it, we'll kill you." but even then you'd think there would be some suicidal asshole who doesn't care.
