Fighters in the arena are also armed with machetes which serves as an equalizer. A lot of her opponents probably underestimated her as well and being lighter and more agile (and knowledgeable of combat tactics) would allow her to utilize hit and run tactics to wear down/tire out her opponents similar to how in ASOIAF Oberyn Martell took down the Mountain despite his size and strength.
