I agree with a good chunk, but privatization isn't inherently a bad thing. Canada already has enough fucking public sector federal workers that basically are able to get whatever they want from the government at taxpayer expense. I doubt Canada would be better off having even more of the labor force being government workers. Last I remember 25% of Canadians work for some level of government.

This mindset is likely more of a symptom of certain Canadians conflating what is Canadian and what is from the USA due to areas where there is an overlap in culture (television shows, movies, news, etc.).

For example, some Canadians might be under the impression that they have the same level of free speech that the USA has because they are part of North America (somehow confusing parts of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms with the US Constitution). Be it culture, freedoms, economics, or military might, this attitude can contribute to why/how some Canadians have taken the relationship between Canada and the USA for granted.

Ironically, the Canadians who think they are superior the USA tend to be more North American than strictly Canadian in how they view their accomplishments and capabilities as a people (thereby thinking they can go toe-to-toe with the USA). This became more absurd as Canada grew weaker over time.

To be clear, Canadians don't have to like the USA but a sober self-assessment is recommended in times like these.

I say at this point its just a pure, bland national narcacism. None of the bad aspects of "North America" of course apply to the Canadian psyche. Only America's good spots. Like a mix and match. All the bad aspects of America stays with America. Canada has all the good of Canada and of course there is no bad to reckon. I don't know if it was mentioned here, but Walmart's Great Value brand will often use local sources for stuff to keep costs down, so a lot of it is actually made in Canada and often produced in Canada too.

P. S I bought some groceries yesterday and out of fifteen items, four were brands from America. I didn't even try - I just buy what I normally buy. The four items were Oreos, Campbell's soup (on sale 77 cents, I bought two) and kale. It's like you really have to try to be able to fill your cart with American products.
