I was watching this. And the general point is that people farm the outrage of consumers for attention. It's what Andrew Tate did. It's why companies race swap characters. It's why Etc. Etc. happened.

Because people make videos, to talk about it, they make social media posts, they do xy and z and that ends up farming engagement for whatever the thing is.

Some of it is obviously true. Some seems a bit more like it's just his theory. But I wouldn't be surprised if he was right.

I know kiwifarms doesn't really know a lot about trolling. But I thought I would post this and see what people think.

My take, Andrew Tate worships a dead pedophile, and should be locked up in a Turkish prison. But that's just me.

There are 500,000 videos about Concord, some are even being made as we speak. Did any of that "engagement farming" help sell the game? No.
There are 400,000 videos about the new Dragon age, some even came out today. Did any of those videos help sell a single copy? NOPE!
There are almost a million videos about Dustborn, including four by the owner of this very site. It didn't crack 5k sales.

Do I need to go on? The boomer catch phrase of "All press is good press" is the biggest cope in history and it was repeated so many times people (like you) have started to believe it.

None of these things have anything in common with Bald internet daddy because HE HIMSELF is the product. HE makes money off of the views and engagement.

This is essentually propaganda to trick people into not pointing out that things are shit and to stop complaining about them. How does it hurt me that someone can turn talking shit about corperate slop into a career? How is it a bad thing that it hurts THE MOUSE and guy pointing at it saying its shit makes a buck?

Any ideology which allows for trifling is inferior to a version that doesn’t.
 
The man in that video sounds kind of fat, so I do not respect his opinions.

Also farming outrage gives temporary boosts to notoriety to get a name out there, it's not an effective long term strategy especially for actual products.

Basically the video comes off as some very enlightened centrist nonsense, where a man with a dopey voice and a poorly informed view of the world assures us that if only everyone was as above it all as he is then things wouldn't be gay and ruined.
That's clearly absurd, phenomenon like the bizarre progressive push in media has been poor enough in its returns that anyone with two eyes could see there's more at play in the situation.

Honestly, even guys like Andrew Tate aren't capitalizing 100% off outrage, and to distill it down to that is to ignore a lot of other societal issues at play with these type of idiot "alpha male" influencers. Outrage definitely helps, but just endlessly saying things to annoy people is not a sustainable business practice.

Oh hey, I remember this guy. He did a video on Duke Nukem's memetic impact and another on a woke trolling ring that made some well-known ragebait woke infographics. Then he started doing history on American natives and I started checking out of his content. I remember liking his stuff in the past, but there was always something off about his rhetoric. Never feels like he's explored the full picture.

I'm still in doubt that anybody at all actually know what the end goal of modern nu-progressivism is. Not even the progressives, I bet.

The anti-woke grifters say it's all a big communism movement, especially with how Antifa used to get the lightest of scoldings from the media, if any scolding at all. But my own, far more retarded theory is that it's merely a locust cloud of mostly-unrelated narcissists using progressivism as the ultimate cudgel for both dehumanizing others and also propping up their own identity - all classic narcissist behavior. And there's no higher reason than that. No grand aspirations or true belief for communism. They only look organized because they've begun learning from other narcissists how to jerk off more efficiently by dogpiling onto nu-progressivism. All of them are just loudly jerking themselves off over their big imaginary good boy points system, and they don't care if the progressive movement they co-opted for the sole purpose of jerking it even louder ends up imploding.

To be fair, Facebook went to shit after a few years, which is when the boomers finally started adopting it. Look at it from their perspective: You get countless posts of things that are NOT your family and friends, and those posts are all engagement farming and links to money-sucking grifts. The boomers were betrayed by Facebook, but they're still too addicted to leave 'the entire internet' and all their friends and family behind, so they cope by calling everything else they see through Facebook's dogshit algorithm 'trolling.'

Okay, I'll bite. Wait, it's 24 minutes long and I have to listen to that voice? Just even skimming through the video and hearing parts have convinced me that this uploader is an absolute fucking retard. So he's going to assume that everything is having a nostradamus effect where we expect the worst out of some things and they happen so it somehow equals trolling?

I don't really buy it. Things happen for numerous reasons and in numerous factors. There isn't some mastermind out there, pre-planning everything in a deliberate grand scheme to shit all over everything in the name of trolling. People largely do stupid things and make ill-will decisions based on just how little of knowledge that they possess.

The logic in the video is melting my brain a little.
 
I wanted to let me respond before I gave an actual serious take on what I think about his theory.

I do think he is partially right about things like Andrew Tate. But it's not as simple as he states in the video. I think Andrew Tate, did get boosted by being controversial. Anything that gets engagement will end up more popular on these social media platforms just by the nature of how the algorithms work. Except when moderation steps in and stops it. But that alone wouldn't have made him what he became (talking about the stuff outside him being a pedo worshipping sex trafficker). He hit on something a group of people wanted to see. And a good bit of the manosphere types have tried following suite more or less after seeing the money he could grift out of his simps.

The Disney stuff. Yeah, not sure I buy it. I do agree that sperging out about it doesn't do shit to help you though. At least sperg in a way that actually improves your life. ♥️
