It didn't used to be like that. At first, it was meant to merge civilian and military aid programs in the Cold War. USAID was central to the US strategy to contain communism. The idea was that the US could help foreigners get started on supporting themselves and fighting communists. After initial US support, they would be on their own - except that's not how it happened and this turned out to be a very optimistic expectation by the Kennedy administration of how these programs would play out.

It was a lot easier getting Congressional funding for "aid" programs than it was for "defense" programs. See below. Also, for the record, this document is fully declassified and accessible to any member of the public at the National Archives in College Park, MD.

The Mutual Security Act was a continuation of the Marshall Plan. In November 1961, Kennedy signed the Foreign Assistance Act into law and also signed Executive Order 10973 which created USAID - the replacement for the Mutual Security Act.

Is someone making a thread on this? This is a huge deal and has the potential to be a mega lolcow happening throughout the next month, especially with the attorney general's letter to Elon. Some of the posters in that viral image going around of all the reddit death threats have already been doxxed and as far as I can tell reddit has frozen a bunch of their accounts

President Trump is wasting no time in keeping his campaign promises. Trump promised he would put tariffs on Canada and Mexico unless they put troops on their borders to stop fentanyl from coming in to the United States. When Trump first announced his plan for tariffs, there was a lot of gnashing of teeth and chest beating. Both Canada and Mexico announced a 25% tariff on American products coming into their countries.

The media and the left (I repeat myself) began running around screaming like Chicken Little, “Tariff wars! the sky is falling.” They warned our food prices would skyrocket and people would suffer under Trump’s tariffs. They were wrong—as usual. They never would have guessed that Mexico and Canada would lean into Trump’s demands. President Trump talked to Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum, and it was confirmed that the 25% tariff would be delayed for 30 days because she agreed to send 10,000 Mexican troops to the border to stop the illegal flow of drugs and invaders. The pause would allow Mexico and the US to work out a deal to avoid the tariffs or lower them. The ‘art of the deal’ in action.

President Trump is also speaking with Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau who is more arrogant than the Mexican President, which means more vigorous arm twisting may be required. This is a developing story so things are changing quickly.



Isn’t it nice to have a President that takes charge and gets things done for America? Joe Biden would be taking his third nap of the day—and if his somnambulant self were even half awake he would instantly cave into their demands. Biden was not deal maker. He was a graft collector.

President Trump has done more in two weeks than Biden did in all of his four years. Apparently Biden’s White House was being run by far-left 20 year-old interns.

Remember when Trump was pissed because the military attacked ISIS and the Taliban when they were fighting one another? Well, he's letting his enemies fight each other again. Now it's California's faggot government and the beaners, and he isn't getting involved this time.
